RPM Mover LLC | Application Preview
RPM Mover LLC is seeking government grants to support its business expansion plans by purchasing a truck, securing insurance, investing in advertising, and funding employee recruitment. The company aims to build a referral-based business by connecting with 100 local businesses, including real estate agents and assisted living facilities, that require moving services. The operational strategy includes using a van for smaller, 'labor-only' moves while the truck will handle larger relocations. The goal is to eventually operate five trucks, billing for over 200 hours per week at competitive rates, and to venture into storage facilities and franchising within five years.
The applicant emphasizes a personal story, highlighting resilience after overcoming past challenges. With a background in sales and marketing, the founder has taken up moving jobs as a stepping stone toward a more substantial business, motivated to assist others facing similar struggles. Committed to transparency and community engagement, the founder is actively involved in local charitable efforts and has developed meticulous financial planning to track expenses.
In terms of competition, RPM Mover LLC identifies existing players like 'All My Sons', 'Pack Mule', and 'Two Men and a Truck'. The company plans to differentiate itself through clear communication, professionalism, and a customer-centered approach, ensuring high-quality service and follow-up gestures such as thank-you notes. The business will embody the name RPM, which stands for 'Real Professional Movers', aiming to establish a strong reputation in the moving industry.

Business Plan
My plan is to talk to 100 businesses for referral based business from realtors, apartment locators, nursing hones, assisted living centers, and flooring companies that need furniture moved temporarily. We'll utilize the van for "labor only" moves and the truck for bigger moves, with the goal of having 5 trucks in 5 years, billing 200 hours or more a week at $150 an hour or more as the economy changes. By that time we'd like to purchase our first of many storage facilities and expand into new markets and become a household name. At that time we may look into franchising the business as well. I'm a felon, with a sales and marketing background, that took on menial moving jobs to do what it took to pay the bills. I see the potential of helping others like me with my story and the ability to hire and help men and women overcome the challenges we face when we get out. I have a vision, and I want to make a difference. I want to treat people like I want to be treated in our industry and beyond! I'll be an asset to my community and give back. I volunteered my time for today and tomorrow to move all the donations that siblings in my area received to finance an educational school trip to Europe. I saw their dedication to work for their goals doing odd jobs in our community and reached out to help. I've run into barriers, but I don't quit. I keep pushing. I listen to business and inspirational podcasts every day for advice, and my mind is made up to succeed. My son is my business partner, and he's put faith in me again in a big way to execute our plan while he works a full time job. I've created spreadsheets of every expense, and will continue to do so to show where every dollar is spent. My plan is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound.

Self Identified Competition
"All My Sons", "Pack Mule", and "Two Men and a Truck" I'm taking everything each one has done right and implementing those values with our company. I'll stand out by being up front with my costs, being more professional, communicating better, having more systems in place, and doing a more quality job for each customer. I send each one a thank you note after their move and put the customer first. RPM stands for "Real Professional Movers" and we'll live up to the name.
