EZ-EV Charging | Application Preview
EZ-EV Charging is seeking government grants to fund the down payment on a commercial property priced at $1.65 million, which will host their new electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Sudbury, MA. The company plans to establish this first location with the goal of expanding to at least two additional sites within five years, capitalizing on the growing demand for EV infrastructure.
The application emphasizes the necessity for a comprehensive network of high-speed chargers to support the increasing adoption of EV technology, as highlighted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. With the EV charging market projected to grow significantly, EZ-EV Charging aims to position itself as a charge point operator (CPO) offering an innovative and convenient charging experience that is currently lacking in New England.
EZ-EV's proposed charging station will feature easy-to-access fast DC chargers in a well-lit and secure environment, equipped with amenities such as self-cleaning bathrooms, vending machines, Wi-Fi, and outdoor seating. The objective is to create a user-friendly experience that alleviates common pain points for EV drivers, including charger reliability and waiting times, while ensuring competitive pricing.
The business acknowledges a competitive landscape, primarily consisting of solitary DCFC owners lacking the comprehensive offerings that EZ-EV will provide. By focusing on key concerns such as convenience, speed, payment ease, and overall safety, EZ-EV Charging aims to be a leader in addressing the current shortfall of public DCFC chargers, particularly in regions with high EV ownership but limited access to charging infrastructure.

Business Plan
This is the first location, we plan to build in Sudbury, MA. In five years I hope to have at least two additional locations; there is virtually unlimited expansion potential. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) said that a robust network of public highspeed chargers will be required for widespread public adoption of EV technology (Brown, Cappellucci, White, Heinrich, & Cost, 2023). According to PWC, charge point operators (CPOs which build, operate, and maintain EV charging stations) are estimated to account for the bulk of the market’s value from roughly half currently to 65% in 2040 (for revenues of about $65 billion). The current market for EVSE is $7 billion, expected to be $100 billion by 2040.There are 4 million charge points currently, expect to grow to 35 million by 2030 (Price Waterhouse Cooper, 2023). EZ-EV Charging will be a CPO, creating a unique EV charging experience that does not yet exist in New England. We will provide easy to see, easy to find, easy access, fast DC (DCFC) chargers. No more searching for chargers at the back of or on the side of a building or in the middle of a random parking lot, lacking security measures such as lighting and cameras. They rarely are close to a bathroom or other conveniences. EZ-EV Charging offers a clean, well-lit, covered, and convenient place to fast-charge electric vehicles 24hr./day. Value-added amenities include a self-cleaning bathroom on site, vending, wi-fi, and outdoor benches and tables, along with a tire air pump, and window squeegees next to the chargers. There is unlimited expansion potential; especially in northern New England where the high-speed DC charging network is almost nonexistent. In the rural or semi-rural areas, drivers are forced to drive longer distances on average. We want to build highly visible, easy to find DCFC charging stations in these areas will greatly increase consumer confidence in EVs; which in turn means more EVs on the road and therefore more customers for high-speed charging stations. We hope this project will help kickstart a much-needed paradigm shift that is needed in the EVSE industry.

Self Identified Competition
Our competitors are individual DCFC owners who have installed chargers in some parking lots. However, none of them offer anything close to what EZ-EV plans to offer. EZ-EV Charging provides a welcoming, safe, and convenient DCFC charging for electric vehicles, always-clean bathrooms, and vending 24hr/day. The EV charging station we want to build is new concept, and based on data it addresses all the top concerns of EV drivers: 1. Charger reliability a. With 8 charging ports and a 24/hr. hotline, EZ-EV Charging can keep the charger downtime to a minimum. 2. Price b. EZ-EV will be competitive, and consumers are willing to pay more for faster charging. 3. Charging time c. EZ-EV Charging will feature the fastest DC chargers available. 4. Conveniently located along itinerary. d. The location of EZ-EV will be right on a busy route, so it is easy to see and convenient to access. 5. Ease of payment. e. Payment will be very convenient using either the app or a credit card at the charger itself. 6. Ease of use. f. EZ-EV Charging allows the vehicles to drive in, charge and leave without parking in a spot or having to back out. The chargers will be covered to make it comfortable to charge during precipitation. 7. Less waiting time. g. EZ-EV Charging will have 8 charging ports, meaning 8 vehicles can charge at once, which should lessen wait time. In addition to the general lack of adequate public DCFC chargers, Sudbury MA, which has one of the highest EV ownership rates in Massachusetts, does not any public DCFC chargers.
