Wild Relics LLC 92-0555401 | Government Grant Application

Wild Relics LLC | Application Preview

Wild Relics LLC, led by Cheryl Smith, is seeking startup funding to launch a cafe in a small river town. The funding will be allocated for renovations to make the bathrooms ADA compliant, repair and upgrade commercial kitchen equipment, and cover marketing, inventory, and staffing costs. There is a strong community demand for a cafe, especially following the recent closure of a popular local establishment.

Cheryl and her husband envision the cafe as a local staple, providing wholesome meals and coffee to both travelers and residents. They plan to offer a lunch menu and host events like a weekly farmers market. Despite existing competition, including a bakery that does not serve breakfast, Cheryl believes they can attract early customers by opening earlier than competitors and capitalizing on the traffic—over 7,000 cars passing their location daily.

Cheryl emphasizes her vibrant, people-oriented approach and her husband’s culinary passion as key strengths in realizing their dream of establishing a beloved local cafe.

  • Funding Usage

I would like start up money to get the Cafe running. The bathrooms need to be updated because currently they are not ADA compliant. Some of the commercial kitchen equipment is not working or simply old and needs to be serviced. I know there is a big demand for a cafe in this town because a very popular business just closed (due to family medical issues) and everyone in town keeps asking about when were going to open. I would like funding for marketing, renovations, inventory, hiring someone to help cook and general start up costs. Thank you. Cheryl Smith

  • Business Plan

Eventually I would like to offer a lunch menu along with hosting events in the parking lot ie: a weekly farmers market. This little cafe has been our dream for years. Me and my husband recently moved to this adorable little river town and are so excited to become a staple for travelers as well as locals just looking for a good wholesome meal and a hot cup of coffee. We have over 7000 cars pass our building every day.

  • Self Identified Competition

    1. Off the Vine (that just closed their doors due to medical reasons, not lack of interest) that was super popular in our little town. 2. The Momence Cafe. They are awesome but i would like to open earlier than they do to offer breakfast to the local farmers who are up and working before the sun comes up. 3. Pearson's Bordertown Bakery. A wonderful little shop with amazing baked good. But they don't offer breakfast. There is also Silver D's but that is the only other place in town that serves breakfast. They have a great menu with a much bigger dining room. I'm not sure yet. I know that I have a very dynamic, people focused personality. I also know that will show in any business I put my energy and focus into. Also, We have a bunch of family in the area willing to help us get this off the ground. My husband has a passion for cooking and had been told for years to open a restaurant.
