WW Bikes | Application Preview
WW Bikes is seeking government grants to enhance its rental fleet and cover essential operating costs. As a new start-up, the business aims to achieve growth by expanding its offerings within the first year to include e-bike trikes, making cycling more accessible to individuals who may struggle with traditional bicycles.
Over the next five years, WW Bikes plans to establish two locations—one in Kingsport near the Greenbelt and another in Jonesborough near the Tweetsie trail. Each site will maintain sufficient inventory for at least a dozen simultaneous rentals. If demand dictates, guided tours featuring local attractions adjacent to these trails may also be introduced.
The funding request focuses on acquiring 3-4 e-bike trikes, 7-8 standard e-bikes, and a trailer for efficient bike transportation to trailheads. Currently, there are no significant competitors in Kingsport for e-bike rentals, and while Johnson City has Local Motion on the Tweetsie trail, they do not offer e-bike trikes.
WW Bikes differentiates itself by not only operating as a business but also fostering a love for cycling. Emphasizing health and exercise, the company plans to provide Class-1 e-bikes that require pedaling for assistance. The inclusive approach aims to attract a broader demographic, demonstrating that cycling can be a lifelong sport. The company’s motto, "Ride to Live | Love to Ride," encapsulates this mission.

Business Plan
I am a brand new start-up, so there is no option but to grow. Within the first year I would like to add e-bike trikes to my fleet so that the cycling experience is more accessible to more people including those who may not be able to ride a traditional 2-wheeled bicycle. Within 5 years I plan to have two physical locations. One would be in Kingsport on or near the Greenbelt. The other would be in Jonesborough on or near the Tweetsie trail once expansion happens. Both locations would have enough inventory for at least a dozen rentals at the same time. If the demand is there, I would consider offering guided tours that would hit local attractions close to the Greenbelt or Tweetsie trail. My funding request would allow me to add 3-4 e-bike trikes to my fleet, 7-8 traditional e-bikes, and a trailer to haul multiple e-bikes for trailhead delivery and pickup.

Self Identified Competition
No real competition in Kingsport for e-bike rentals. Johnson City has Local Motion operating on the Tweetsie trail. They do not currently offer e-bike trikes. I don't just want to do it as a business, I want people to fall in love with cycling all over again. I want to promote health and exercise by offering Class-1 e-bikes so riders must pedal in order for the bike to assist. My motto is "Ride to Live | Love to Ride". I also want to make the experience accessible to as many people as possible and I will do that by expanding my e-bike size and style offerings, including e-bike trikes. E-bike trike rentals can open up the cycling world to a whole other demographic of riders. Cycling can be an enjoyable lifetime sport by exposing folks to e-bikes and giving them a chance to try them out.
