The mill was condemned because of failing to comply with earthquake safety codes. We have a general plan for restoring and opening the grounds and courtyard for Spring, Summer and Fall use, while the restoration of the actual building itself is ongoing. Our hope is to open the grounds and courtyard for use within a year. The work on the building will take significantly longer but we believe we can open the building in three years, without any major setbacks and be fully functional within five years.

  • Business Plan

The mill when restored will be a 3 acre, indoor-outdoor venue space. The address of the Mill is 6851 S Big Cottonwood Canyon Rd, Salt Lake City, Ut 84121. Our hope for the restored Mill is that it can be a cultural hub where business and community intersect. A multipurpose venue that can house weddings, community farmers or art markets, outdoor movie nights, local high school dances and other such events. We also would like the Mill to be a place where the community can learn of its history by inviting students to tour the Mill, teaching them of the Mill and the city it is in. Partnering with local businesses to help host such events, we hope to stimulate the city, county and states' economy. Theodore Roosevelt once said "far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing". We believe that there are buildings in our local communities that have great importance, no matter how neglected they are. They deserve to be saved, restored and repurposed to serve future generations and become something with so much more meaning than just a building. If you invest in us, you can know that your investment is going toward a business that is doing a hard work worth doing.
