Epilepsy Wellness Texas | Application Preview
Epilepsy Wellness Texas is seeking government grant funding to expand its services for patients and caregivers affected by neurological conditions, including epilepsy, Parkinson's, and Multiple Sclerosis. The funds will be allocated for marketing efforts and to cover the costs associated with online classes and website hosting. Currently, the coach has been volunteering without compensation and aims to pay for their contributions.
The business plan includes hiring additional healthcare coaches skilled in neurology to provide comprehensive support to clients, addressing the gap in effective communication between patients and healthcare providers. With over 18 years of experience in healthcare, the applicant, who holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, emphasizes the need for reliable information and mentorship in managing neurological conditions.
In terms of competition, organizations like the Epilepsy Foundation and MS Society offer educational resources but lack personalized coaching, which is a key differentiator for Epilepsy Wellness Texas. The organization aims to empower patients by teaching them to advocate for themselves, navigate the healthcare system, and better understand their care plans.

Business Plan
I plan to hire more healthcare coaches with experience in neurology conditions. This will provide a wide range of supporters for the clients who need this. Many clients with neurological conditions feel that the healthcare providers don't hear them or have time to teach them about their conditions. There are plans to create more patient-centered courses for other chronic medical conditions. I have over 18 years as a healthcare provider and have a wealth of experience with neurology patients. I have risen through the levels of the healthcare provider ladder from certified nursing assistant to obtaining my Doctorate in Nursing Practice. I understand care provision and patient education well. I have seen the critical need patients have to understand and manage their medical conditions well. However, much of the information out there is not verified or guided. They need people (coaches) who can discuss information and separate good from bad information. They also need trusted mentors to help navigate the healthcare system. This is why I started this project.

Self Identified Competition
The Epilepsy Foundation and Epilepsy Alliance America are some of the major competitors for patient support programs. They provide patient-directed education but do pair them with personalized coaches or require them to go through a course. They host campaigns for awareness of medical conditions and put out simple flyers for first-aid procedures etc. The MS Society is another competitor. However, their main focus is providing patients with medications and other needed equipment. We offer personalized support and teaching. We empower the patients with the knowledge they need to advocate for themselves in the healthcare field. We teach them how to ask for what they need and how to make their time with the doctors effective. We also become the patient liaison in supporting their medical providers' instructions and helping them understand the plans of care.
