Black Girls Build Inc 85-1418475 | Government Grant Application

Black Girls Build Inc | Application Preview

Black Girls Build Inc. is applying for government grants to develop a new apprenticeship program focused on the construction trades. The funding will be used to establish this program, which intends to foster diversity and inclusion in an industry often dominated by traditional unions.

The business plan emphasizes growth through networking and collaboration with other organizations. Approval of this funding is justified by the need for increased representation and opportunities for women in construction, which can enhance leadership roles and promote equality.

The main competition comes from construction unions, which have significant financial resources and influence but fall short on effectively teaching and retaining a diverse workforce. Black Girls Build Inc. distinguishes itself through a passionate commitment to the mission and a history of community workshops aimed at introducing carpentry and other trades. The founder, a master carpenter, has relied on self-funding due to challenges in securing community and government support but remains dedicated to creating educational opportunities in the community.

  • Business Plan

I plan to grow my business by networking and collaborating with other organizations and leadership. Investors should invest in my business because it is a vital component to the future of the construction industry. Diversity and inclusion lead the way, along with equality, opportunities for women, leadership opportunities for women, and work worthy apparel for women in the construction industry.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our top competitor is the construction unions. Monopolizing from massive funding and influence over construction industry awareness and recruitment. Doing very little to actually teach, train, and retain recruits in diversity and inclusivity. What makes me different from my union competitors is my passion for the mission. I have worked diligently to provide community workshops that introduce the construction trades, specifically carpentry. I am a master carpenter by trade and have worked tirelessly to self fund this program in the lack of community support, consistently denied grant funds, and lack of support from local government officials. Despite the lack of support, I continue to work to provide the community with learning opportunities.
