Frontier Village & Museum | Application Preview
Frontier Village & Museum is seeking government grant funding to enhance its operations and outreach. The funding will specifically be used to acquire Past Perfect software for archival purposes and to support construction projects aimed at restoring several historic buildings on their property, including Cold Springs Schoolhouse and various homes and cabins that have suffered from neglect.
Their five-year business plan aims to increase community engagement through a series of outdoor events and educational classes. Planned activities include World War II and Civil War reenactments, handmade crafts like candle-making and canning, sewing, and performances including plays and music events.
The museum positions itself as the only institution of its type in the Red River Valley, emphasizing its unique cultural and educational offerings. The grant funding will facilitate further outreach, extending educational initiatives beyond Grayson County.
In terms of competition, Frontier Village & Museum identifies a few local museums, such as the Perrin Air Force Base Historical Museum and Eisenhower's Birthplace State Historic Site. However, they emphasize collaboration rather than competition, viewing their offerings as complementary experiences for visitors.
The museum's competitive edge lies in its diverse focus on a broader range of historical events and topics, setting it apart from its local counterparts that specialize in more narrow themes.

Business Plan
Over the next 5 years we plan to expand our outreach to the community by hosting more outdoors events and classes to teach the general populous the ways of yesteryear. This will include things like a World War 2 reenactment, Civil War living history demonstration that will be held both at our location as well as out in the community based on request, classes on home made candles, canning, sewing, butter making, wood and iron working, performing arts IE. plays, and music in the park as well as several other things we are workshopping and hoping to add to the curriculum for future use. We are the only location of our kind in the Red River Valley that offers as much culture and education as we do. This funding will help us to expand our outreach even further to explore education in areas outside Grayson County.

Self Identified Competition
Our only "competitors" we have are a couple museums in our area. Perrin Air Force Base Historical Museum, Eisenhower's Birthplace State Historic Site, and the Red River Railroad Museum. These locations are fantastic locations and we work closely with them to share our information and events. As they do not outright compete with us we do not see them as competing with our clientele rather an added experience for our guests. As our friends at other museums focus on specific topics while we focus on a wide array of history, We are different in that we have a wider spectrum of event topics that we can capitalize on.
