Bern To-Go | Application Preview
Bern To-Go is applying for government grants to secure funding for a business address and build a commercial space to serve the public more effectively. The goal is to transition from private events and home services to a daily public operation, which the owner believes could increase business by at least 50%.
The owner brings over 25 years of professional cooking experience and a bachelor's degree in business administration, along with strong community support. They have played a key role in launching several local restaurants and cite lack of start-up capital as the only barrier to establishing their own business. With government funding, the owner is confident in the ability to repay a loan within three years or, if granted funds, to double the amount in the same timeframe.
In the local market, there are only two direct competitors focused on catering services. By securing a commercial space, Bern To-Go aims to enhance its competitive edge, leveraging existing relationships with competitors to capture a larger share of the market.

Funding Usage
I would use this funding to purchase a business address and build a commercial space so that I could openly serve the public.

Business Plan
With the commercial space I would be able to operate on a daily basis and serve my food to the public. Right now without a commercial space I am limited to only private events and at home services. I believe that opening another avenue for me to access customers will allow my business to grow at least by 50%. I am an extremely hard working individual. I have been cooking professionally for almost 25+ years and I have a large community following. I also have my bachelor's degree in business administration. I have helped several restaurants open in my area and the only thing stopping me from doing it for myself is the lack of start-up capital. If I were to receive a government loan, I am very confident that I could pay it back within 3 years. If I were to be rewarded with a grant I could guarantee that the money would have doubled itself in that same 3 year time line.
-
Self Identified Competition
There are only two companies in my area that do strictly catering. "The Flame Banquet Center" "The Catering Company" Currently I work closely with my competitors because our town is such a small area we share a lot of the same resources. They give me most of their small scale events. If I were to obtain a commercial building I would be able to compete with them on a much higher level.
