Funding Usage
The funding will be used to grow the company and build it's credibility. I plan to use the money to work with a literacy expert to help me get my educator training certified by the International Dyslexia Association, to rebuild my website to allow for virtual training for educators and to launch an online store, and to launch a podcast.

Business Plan
Root Literacy Design will grow in the following ways over the next 5 years: Work with a print and fulfillment center and launch an online store to ship educational tools around the nation. Apply for our science of reading training to be accredited by the International Dyslexia Association. Execute an established marketing plan built with an expert that Root Literacy Design invested $10,000 to form. Projects include redesigning the website, launching a podcast and blog, and building out social media. Create and publish up to 20 decodable texts for beginning readers on KDP. Two-thirds of students nationwide are not proficient readers. Root Literacy Design was established in 2024 to provide educators with the knowledge, tools, and skills they need so all students learn to read and write. Root Literacy Design is currently a Rhode Island Department of Education approved vendor for the Right to Read Act, has published works including an article in The Reading League Journal and a recently self published book on KDP Amazon. Root Literacy has invested over four hundred hours over four years to build current educators to lead coaching and training. Additionally Root Literacy Design invested $10,000 in working with a marketing expert to create a marketing plan, and is seeking funding to allow for the execution of this plan. Root Literacy has a three year business plan and quotes from outside consultants and businesses that outline the cost of the work outlined for year one.

Self Identified Competition
Keys to Literacy, Hill for Literacy, and 95% are three competitors of Root Literacy Design. All three offer virtual training and have self published works and online stores. Root Literacy Design seeks to follow the success model the competitors have built by also offering virtual trainings and tools via an online store. While Root Literacy's training is currently a state level approved training in Rhode Island, obtaining an accreditation from the International Dyslexia Association is a necessary next step to offering virtual training to out of state educators. Root Literacy Design is the only literacy organization dedicated to helping educators build evidence-based literacy practices that is led by the people who do the work every day. All of Root Literacy Design's team members are current leaders, literacy coaches, and teachers. Having current practitioners leading others is imperative in this work. The world is changing fast and this work cannot be led by outdated methods and tools from those who "used to teach 20 years ago" - which make up the consultants and coaches with competitors. Additionally, all of our tools and materials are classroom tested and created with current educators.
