Children's Community School | Application Preview
Children's Community School (CCS) is applying for government grants to modernize its outdated technology systems. The current processes for payroll, accounts receivable, tuition payments, and parent communication are largely paper-based, which increases the likelihood of errors and consumes valuable time. By transitioning to a paperless system, the school aims to streamline these operations, allowing staff to focus on exploring new funding opportunities and enhancing overall efficiency.
CCS has a strong history, having been established for 56 years, and boasts an impressive graduation rate of 94-100% for students who leave the program, significantly outperforming the local public school system. The school serves a diverse student body of 169 children from underserved populations, many living below the poverty line. The grant would enable CCS to expand its services and continue to be a vital asset to the Waterbury community.
In a competitive nonprofit landscape, CCS stands out due to its long-standing commitment to education, dedicated teachers, a welcoming environment, small class sizes, and a strong focus on summer learning to combat academic decline. The school’s proven track record in literacy and mathematics further supports its case for funding, emphasizing its role as a nurturing space for student growth and success.

Funding Usage
Currently we are looking to update our technology. The school have a very archaic system for payroll, accounts receivable, tuition payments and parent portals. We are looking to update our technology to going paperless in these areas.
-
Business Plan
Currently, the school has not received much funding and this has limited the growth of the school. With increased technology, this can free up time for payroll processing, account collections, parent, teacher and administration access. With this technology the school can spend time researching and exploring new funding streams and sources of revenue. Also, the process of these areas using paper has allowed for more error in payroll and accounting. CCS has been open for 56 years. Currently, the school boasts a graduation rate after leaving CCS of 94-100%. This far exceeds the Waterbury public school system data. The majority of students are from underserved populations and well below the poverty line. CUrrently, there are 169 students enrolled for grades preK-8. The school is truly a hidden gem within the Waterbury community and with additional funding expansion is possible.
