Handmade Hysteria | Application Preview
Handmade Hysteria is seeking government funding to grow its business by renting a dedicated workshop, obtaining necessary certifications and training, and expanding advertising efforts, with the ultimate goal of opening a brick-and-mortar store. The business owner has a deep-rooted passion for creating handmade products, which was reignited after experiencing a personal tragedy. In the wake of this loss, crafting became a therapeutic outlet, leading to the establishment of her business.
The plan focuses on enhancing e-commerce skills and establishing a physical retail presence. Handmade Hysteria faces competition from established brands like Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candle but distinguishes itself through its personal story, commitment to handmade quality, and use of natural ingredients. The owner highlights her dedication as a single mother who runs all aspects of the business independently, which she believes gives her a unique competitive edge. Additionally, she is active in the community, organizing charitable and educational events.

Business Plan
I plan to rent a workshop where I can make my handmade products. I plan to scale my e-commerce selling skills. I’m planning to own my own brick and mortar store. I have always had a love for creating something with my own two hands. My whole life I have loved the artisan creations, the crafting, gardening… I am a mother so finding the time to indulge was just about nonexistent. Until the day my world stopped. July 31st, 2023 was the day I awoke to find my precious newborn daughter unresponsive. As you can imagine, I was wrecked. It took me about 5 months to try to start to pull myself together. As the days, months just kept slipping by me I knew at some point I’d have to pull myself off of the floor. So one day I did. I went to my go-to happy place, my garden. Then, I started using my Cricut again. Next thing I knew I was over my stove, tears and sweat dripping off of my face making candles for Christmas presents. I just didn’t have it in me to do any Christmas shopping. I found a new joy out of the worst heartbreak of my life, and that’s how I became ‘Handmade Hysteria’! I am a member of numerous nonprofit organizations and I plan charitable/ educational events in my community.
