Mountain State Wildlife Removal 2462-0659 | Government Grant Application

Mountain State Wildlife Removal | Application Preview

Mountain State Wildlife Removal is seeking government grant funding to enhance its operations by purchasing a reliable work truck equipped with a ladder rack and safer fiberglass ladders. This investment aims to support their long-distance travel needs and ensure safe transport of heavy equipment.

Over the next five years, the business plans to maintain its current staffing levels initially, with plans to hire 1-2 employees by the fourth or fifth year to facilitate growth. The owner emphasizes the importance of a lean operation, drawing from past experience to prioritize efficiency without an extensive workforce at the outset.

The funding request is framed as an investment in wildlife conservation in West Virginia. Mountain State Wildlife Removal operates within state laws, educating customers about the seasonal protection of animals like bats to prevent detrimental effects on the ecosystem. Their mission also includes enhancing community safety by addressing wildlife-related issues professionally, thus minimizing the risk of zoonotic disease transmission.

The business differentiates itself from larger competitors like Orkin, Terminex, and Dodson, which mainly focus on pest control rather than wildlife removal. The owner reflects on the dissatisfaction of some customers with larger companies, claiming that their services often fall short in customer satisfaction and wildlife management.

Mountain State Wildlife Removal prides itself on its personal touch, providing direct communication between the owner and customers, ensuring tailored service and immediate feedback. This hands-on approach, combined with a commitment to quality work and safety, gives the business a competitive edge over larger entities that may lack the same level of customer engagement.

  • Funding Usage

Our plan for these funds is to purchase a reliable work truck, outfit it with a quality ladder rack, and to purchase safer fiberglass ladders. We often drive long distances and need a reliable vehicle that is capable of safely hauling heavy equipment.

  • Business Plan

Over the next 5 years nothing will change employee wise with the business. My previous company I worked for.. I was the only person working in WV. I handled nearly everything and this showed me, many employees are not necessary at the start. By the end of year 4-5 I would like to hire 1-2 employees to start expanding the business. Investing in us, is investing in West Virginia wildlife conservation. Everything we do is in line with WVDNR laws and regulations. For example, if animals like bats are in someone’s home during the months of November-April, we educate the customers on why we are unable to remove them. Removing them during this time will cause them to be stuck outside from their hibernation spot and die. Bats are an important part of the ecosystem. We keep customers safe by having a professional deal with their problem to prevent the transmission of zoonotic diseases. So by investing in us, you are investing in community safety and animal conservation.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our top 3 competitors would be Orkin, Terminex, and Dodson. However, because they are big name companies, I’ve experienced many customers unhappy with their work. From my experience they do work incorrectly, and most of the time their work is only pest control related work. Such as rodent control, insect fogging, bug sprays, etc. Their main line of service is not wildlife removal. Because I am a small business owner, I go a step further when performing our wildlife removal services. I want to ensure the customer is completely satisfied. I do not have a manager or someone to hand off unhappy customers to. I communicate with them directly to see why they are unhappy, and then try my absolute best to make sure by the time the work is done they are satisfied. The difference between Mountain State Wildlife Removal and our competitors, is that customer can reach me directly. They do not have to reach out to a call center and climb their way up to speak with management. I have no employees that may want to simply get the job done and get home as fast as possible. I take my time to ensure quality work and safety.
