grindstone coffee | Application Preview
Grindstone Coffee is seeking government grant funding to address several challenges and ensure sustainable growth. The current building, which they lease, is inadequate due to safety concerns and limited space—featuring only one window. The funds will be used to relocate to a new property with the potential for two drive-through windows, enhancing customer access and service speed, especially during busy mornings.
The business plans to hire additional staff to manage increased demand, finance the down payment on the new property, and make necessary renovations such as insulation, plumbing, and electrical work. Over the next five years, Grindstone Coffee anticipates significant growth, including the addition of more service points at the new location and opportunities to expand into another city. They emphasize community engagement through deliveries to local businesses and schools, as well as participation in community events.
Grindstone Coffee positions itself as a unique competitor in the crowded coffee market, aiming to build meaningful relationships with customers. The owner’s personal commitment to providing exceptional service and high-quality drinks is a core part of the business philosophy. They pride themselves on consistency and care in drink preparation, which they believe sets them apart from larger chains like Starbucks and Dutch Bros, as well as local competitors.
Moreover, the business is committed to maintaining a welcoming environment that fosters connections with customers, a priority that the owner believes adds substantial value. Despite facing financial challenges that limit access to traditional loans, the owner expresses strong determination and resilience, believing that with support, Grindstone Coffee can achieve its ambitious goals and make a positive impact in the community.

Funding Usage
we currently are leasing a building that we have outgrown, it only has one window and our building landlord will not allow us to put a second window, the location has gone downhill with the safety and cleanliness in the neighborhood so we are seeking funding to move locations where it is more accessible for more cars in line, a new building that we are able to put two windows in so we can keep the lines moving and get people their coffee even when they're running late for work, we will be using it to hire a few new employees to handle the upscale in revenue and business and in order to do so we will have to put a down payment on a piece of property that we are carrying the contract with, buy the building and put insulation, plumbing and power into.

Business Plan
my business will grow significantly in the next five years, our property that we are carrying the contract with is big enough to put another entrance and exit on and doing so will allow us to add two more windows on the other side of the building which in return will allow us to double our revenue with cars on both sides and lines on both sides, along with having more employees to be able to take orders outside and have them ready to keep the lines constantly moving getting the cars in and out quick. we plan on expanding the business to another city within the next five years, we also do deliveries to business and schools and are participating in our local events which is more advertising that isn't just within our neighborhood but the other smalls towns around us. I believe investors should invest in my business and I because we are different, our mission is to create a safe space, build relationships and love all. one smile, one conversation, and one drink at a time. we take pride in our drinks making each one with consistency and love. the relationships we are able to build in our community mean so much to us and although as a small business owner and young employees we aren't able to give back much but being able to allow our customers to be vulnerable and trust us with not only their coffees but their personal things they have going on in life gives something that can be so small to someone but so big to others. I grew up in a coffee stand when my mom had me at a very young age and I fell in love with the ability to make a delicious drink and make someone smile. this is my dream and I'm not giving up, I don't have the personal credit to qualify for a loan so I have been doing everything I possibly can to make this happen and be successful. I'm 24 and doing this with little to no help and every time something has came up and set me back a little bit I've got right back up and kept going. I believe in myself, my business and if you can believe in a stranger with a dream and the determination Grindstone Coffee will go places. (multiple hopefully)

Self Identified Competition
my top three competitors are *starbucks *dutch bros *mom and pop little shops Starbucks and dutch bros are all over and aren't going anywhere, the local shops are considered to be our competitions but with our speed, consistency and ability to make a difference in someones life makes us different. not every coffee stand is able to do all 3 and above all the time, some sacrifice one for the other and in this type of industry you can't do that. we are different because it is our goal to make a difference in someones life and this crazy world. we have all of our drinks measured out from the flavor, to the oz of milk to the shots so every single drink is made the same, no matter who makes it or what time they go through the Stand our customers know they will always leave happy with their drink. we will be able to take orders outside and put in a second window to get the orders in faster and then get the drinks to the customers faster, not everybody gives themselves enough time to sit in a long line and wait, and on top of that we want to introduce online ordering to have it ready to go before they arrive. we take pride in our coffee and get our beans locally roasted, we have the espresso shots set to a certain number of seconds and if they don't pull for the correct amount of time they're going to be dumped and pulled again because nobody wants to pay for a burnt coffee, especially with the cost of things these days. our employees are there for the long run, believe in our business, and they're family so they go through an extensive amount of training (4 months) to make sure they know everything about the coffee, the machines, the milks everything.
