  • Funding Usage

If rewarded a grant, I would be extremely thankful. Owning a small business is certainly not easy. Especially today, the cost of food and supplies, on top of meals tax, payroll, payroll tax, rent, and more is extremely difficult. My small team and I have big dreams and plans on how to bring new and improved items to our business. As previously stated in the financial status que, we take in about just as much as we spend, and boy do we try to be as frugal as possible all while turning over the best product possible. The cost of rent, payroll, payroll taxes, electric/gas bills are setting us back. If we had a little cushion, we could start implementing our new ideas and creating more profit. Some months are busier than others, so it is easy to fall behind. We'd truly appreciate any amount.

  • Business Plan

Over the next five years, we'd love to expand our business by bringing more healthy, locally sourced breakfast, coffee, pastries, and fresh pressed juices. We love to work with other small businesses to bring the healthiest options possible to our customers. With the grant money, we plan to purchase a refrigerated case to sell our homemade proteins bars, protein oats, fresh pressed juices, and salads. We have slowly started to update our shop, but we think this would brig that wow factor to our customers. Creating a nice sitting environment for our customers to work from and enjoy the company of others, all while getting a nutritious meal or snack. I am a young Hispanic, small business woman who is looking to make a change in the world, lead by example to other entrepreneurs, and show others that anything is possible. I would greatly appreciate any assistance as owning a small business is not easy. The bills sometimes out weigh the profit depending on the week. We'd love to have a cushion with a little wiggle room to start expanding our business for the better. We would truly appreciate anything!

  • Self Identified Competition

As we are a small business, we don't have too many competitors. There are a few small coffee shops in our area, but not many. Although, as a small coffee shop/café, there is a Dunkin Donuts in our plaza. We were unable to have a drive-thru, as Dunkin Donuts requested that in their lease. We came in a lot longer after they did, so we had no luck of getting a drive-thru. With that being said, we open up in the early mornings. When I did not have this business, if I had to get up early to go to work, I certainly wanted a drive-thru over a walk in café. Only because it was early and simply convenient to not have to get out of my car. They get a lot of business that we don't in the mornings, simply because of that. With the grant money, we'd love to implement more grab and go style items, especially for those who are in a rush in the mornings. As a small business, we pour LOVE into everything we do. We are here early hours and late nights. All of our product is scratch made and locally sourced. We love to support other small businesses. Aside from chains, such as the Dunkin Donuts in our plaza, if we don't make money each day, we cant pay our bills or employees. Bigger corporations have that pull and base to lean on. We strive to do better and better each day, no matter how hard it is.
