CA Worx LLC CA Worx LLC | Government Grant Application

CA Worx LLC | Application Preview

CA Worx LLC is seeking a $20,000 government grant for two main purposes: acquiring an enclosed trailer to enhance customer service and support the growth of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in the Treasure Valley, and establishing a small workshop for fabricating millwork and doors. This workshop aims to lower building costs and streamline the construction process for ADUs and general repair projects.

The company’s five-year plan focuses on shifting away from extensive commercial tenant build-outs toward more ADU construction, addressing the pressing issue of affordable housing. The founders believe that ADUs present an effective and rapid solution to increase housing availability at a reasonable cost, benefiting both property owners and tenants. Given the rising challenges of housing affordability driven by geopolitical factors, inflation, and job market fluctuations, CA Worx LLC aims to play a proactive role in ameliorating this issue.

CA Worx owners have deep ties to the Boise community and an enduring commitment to supporting those in need. They are concerned about the displacement of low-income individuals due to the decline of affordable housing options. They believe their construction expertise can help address these challenges through the promotion and development of affordable ADUs, fostering positive community relationships without relying solely on tax-funded initiatives.

While there might not be significant competition in Boise specifically targeting ADUs, the founders recognize an urgency to act against escalating housing problems before they worsen. Their competitive edge lies in their passion for smaller construction projects, like ADUs, which are often overlooked by other contractors focused on larger, more profitable endeavors. CA Worx LLC prioritizes meaningful work and community support over substantial profit margins, emphasizing partnerships with clients that benefit both parties.

  • Funding Usage

We are requesting a 20000 grant to serve two purposes. The first is to acquire an enclosed trailer to allow us to better service customers and assist with the expansion of building ADUs throughout the Treasure Valley. The second is to build a small workshop, allowing us to fabricate millwork, doors and other items to help reduce the overall building cost and streamline the labor of buildings ADUs and other general construction and repair projects.

  • Business Plan

Our 5 year plan is to grow the business into less commercial tenant build out work and increase the amount of ADU building and construction. We believe that affordable housing is currently out of reach for many and that this problem will continue to intensify as geo political forces, inflation, employment markets and wages as well as lack of availability to housing options all affect people's ability to find housing that they can afford. We see ADUs as a reasonable and rapid way to provide additional housing at a low cost with great benefits to both current property owners as well as prospective tenants. We have had a long term interest in the well being of our community and held jobs prior to starting our small construction business that dealt heavily with the trials of those less fortunate. Having been long term residents of the Boise area, we have watched as development has replaced many affordable options such as trailer and rv parks and lower income apartments with higher priced options. This has created a great displacement of particularly lower income individuals and although the homeless numbers have not reached the level of some states, we see it as a growing problem in our own community that will only worsen with time. We believe that our knowledge and skill in construction could be put to good use helping to curb this problem before it gets worse and by promoting and building affordable ADUs as well as working closely with property owners and tenants to promote long term community relationships and help bridge the gap between those who are more and less fortunate without the need for more tax funded programs. We are passionate about helping folks with an extended hand and think this is the best way we could help.

  • Self Identified Competition

I am unsure of anyone who specializes in this kind of thing in the Boise area. Although it is a growing trend to help in California as they are facing a homeless crisis in ever growing numbers, Boise has not had to place as much emphasis on these types of programs. All the more reason that we believe now is the time to take action to stave off this problem before it gets worse in the Treasure Valley. I think what makes us different than anyone else who may be interested in this kind of work is that, as a general contractor over the last few years we have seen a trend for companies to want the big projects. Most companies are looking for whales, so to speak so they can make a big project turn into a big profit and skip over the small stuff. Simply put most of the builders and construction we see in the Treasure Valley is geared toward higher profit margin projects and due to the growth of the valley their is plenty to be had. Unfortunately many smaller projects such as building an ADU is not a very exciting projects for most. We, however, love this kind of project and although as with any company we have to be profitable in order to stay in business, we want our work to mean something. Every project we have completed since the beginning has been a partnership between us and our customer. We truly care about people and our community and so long as we can make a reasonable profit we would far rather help someone out than take a giant check to the bank.
