Hairapy 101 studio | Application Preview
Hairapy 101 Studio seeks government funding to transition from a salon suite to a storefront retail space. The funds would be allocated to hire a plumber to install a shampoo bowl and to replace the current carpet with new flooring.
The business aims to create a sensory-safe salon dedicated to serving individuals with neuro-sensory disorders, autism, and other disabilities. With increasing demand and a growing clientele, the owner plans to engage with autism schools, autism and disability support groups, and parent networks to expand services. Additionally, there’s a vision to educate other stylists on sensory-safe techniques.
The application highlights the urgent need for sensory-safe salons, especially as autism diagnoses rise and many individuals with disabilities require specialized services. Currently, Arizona has only 16 stylists certified in sensory-safe techniques, all operating from salon suites, with no full salons dedicated to this demographic.
Hairapy 101 Studio distinguishes itself by having the owner, a certified sensory-safe stylist with 20 years of experience, and a personal background caring for a disabled daughter. This combination of professional expertise and personal insight into the needs of people with disabilities positions the studio uniquely in a market with no direct competition.

Business Plan
Moving from a Salon suite into a store front space. To open a sensory safe salon to provide services to people with nuero sensory disorders, autism and other disabilities. I have seen a growth in my suite and need more space. I plan on growing by connecting to autism schools, DTA, Autism groups, Cerebral palsey groups, group homes and parent networks. Becoming an educator to provide sensory safe techniques to stylist, salons and cosmetology schools. The need for sensory safe salons is high. With the rise in autism diagnosis and more people with disabilities staying in a home environment there is no place that they can go to get full salon services by stylist who have been trained and educated in nuero sensory disorders. In Az there are currently 16 stylist on the sensory safe solution registry, all in salon suites, but there are NO salons dedicated to serving our community with this high demand need.

Self Identified Competition
Currently no other salons like this. I was certified to be a sensory safe stylist through sensory safe solution, a non profit organization based out of Florida. I have been a hairstylist for 20 years and currently have a salon suite, do services in my salon suite, and also home based, nursing home and group home settings to clients that my suite cannot accommodate, or clients that cannot travel to me. Before I became a stylist I worked as PCT in the hospital and a CNA in a nursing home. I have a disabled daughter who has taught me compassion and patience. I have a special place in my heart for those who have disabilities and an extensive knowledge on their needs.
