Hillside Group LLC | Application Preview
Hillside Group LLC is seeking government grants to partner with local authorities in developing infill lots focused on middle housing, specifically townhomes and duplexes. The company aims to reinvest profits to acquire additional lots and build affordable, speculative homes for first-time buyers in the community.
The motivation behind this funding request stems from a strong commitment to providing diverse housing options that move beyond generic, corporate designs. The owner believes in the potential for well-designed homes that offer value and appeal to both the community and homeowners.
In a competitive landscape dominated by established custom home builders with well-known reputations, Hillside Group is determined to differentiate itself. Despite the challenge of competing against trusted names, the owner aims to introduce affordable homes that combine quality construction with attractive designs. With experience in tackling difficult remodeling projects, the owner is prepared to take innovative approaches to create beautiful and functional living spaces that resonate with the community.

Business Plan
The plan to grow my business is to reinvest profits into the company in hopes of acquiring lots and building speculative homes, duplexes, and townhomes for my community. I have a passion for making affording a home for first time buyers. I believe there should be more options available than the corporate cookie cutter model which pulls communities and resources further away from the heart of each town. I believe good design and value based budgets, are possible in creating something the community can enjoy and the home owner can be proud of.

Self Identified Competition
My top competitors in the custom home and remodel industry are well established men and women in the community. They have lived in the community their whole lives (I moved here when I met my now wife), and their names are trusted. Their craftsmanship is decent by building standards, but the market is cornered because their names are trusted and their signs and advertising is everywhere. I want to break the mold. I think our community can have both an affordable home that is built with quality, and has a pleasing design aesthetic. I have taken on remodel jobs that are not easy and have produced beautiful results. I’m not afraid of going against the grain or taking the harder path.
