General Vernova International LLC 1996810 | Government Grant Application

General Vernova International LLC | Application Preview

General Vernova International LLC is applying for a government grant to fund hardware for a program aimed at helping individuals in recovery facilities and prisons acquire new skills. The applicant, a former missile defense and NASA advisor, shares a personal story of overcoming a DUI that derailed his career. He highlights his firsthand experience with addiction recovery and the challenges of rebuilding a life, emphasizing that many others in similar situations lack the resources or opportunities to do the same.

The proposed initiative will start at the Turning Point, a men's recovery facility in Greenville, SC, with the potential to expand to other recovery centers and prison systems. The goal is to provide training and resources to people who have made past mistakes, giving them a second chance to gain skills and improve their future prospects.

The applicant's competitive edge lies in his personal understanding of addiction recovery and the difficulties of reintegration. Unlike those who lack empathy or believe change is impossible, he can connect with and mentor individuals based on shared experiences. His motivation is rooted in a desire to help others, using his expertise in computers and tutoring to provide opportunities for those often overlooked by society.

  • Business Plan

I will see how things go at the Turning Point in Greenville. It is a men's recovery facility for drugs and alcohol. There are at least a dozen others in Greenville, SC. There are Women's facilities just like it. I would introduce it to the prisons. There are so many good people that made bad decisions years ago that have no chance to learn skills and better themselves after release. I want to change that. I'm a rocket scientist. I worked for 7 years in missile defense, then NASA in an advisory role. I made a mistake, got a DUI and it wrecked my career. Not many people have that story to fall back on. It took me years to get my career back on track. I have met so may people that have no hope because they don't have that pedigree. I think everyone deserves a second chance, they just don't have the means to do so, and I want to give them that second chance.

  • Self Identified Competition

Perfect people Those that don't want to get help Those that think its too late to turn their lives around I've been there. I've been to rehab and detox. I was in those shoes. I know how hard it is to recover. Part of my recovery is to give back. For me, its computers and tutoring. Its easy for me but I know its extremely difficult for others. If I can help others, I will do it. It just makes me feel good.
