Robertson Consulting Group, LLC DBA RCG Consulting EIN 001781982 | Government Grant Application

Robertson Consulting Group, LLC DBA RCG Consulting | Application Preview

Robertson Consulting Group, LLC (DBA RCG Consulting) is seeking a $50,000 government grant to support its continued growth and expansion. The business, which has been self-funded until now, plans to use the funding for marketing, leadership coaching, and participation in professional networking events. This financial support would help sustain operations for the next two years while establishing a steady income stream.

The company’s five-year plan includes developing passive income through self-service tools, policy templates, and governance materials for nonprofits and small businesses. It also aims to build repeat business by offering periodic risk assessments, collaborate with a software development firm to create a risk assessment application with training tutorials, and introduce retainer-based compliance support services.

RCG Consulting argues that the funding is necessary due to the importance of risk management for SMBs and nonprofits, which face ongoing economic challenges. With approximately 34 million small businesses and 1.9 million nonprofits contributing significantly to the U.S. economy, the firm believes its services would help these organizations manage risk effectively.

The company highlights that there are no identified direct competitors in the SMB space and only one notable competitor in the nonprofit sector. With experience in corporate banking and a commitment to helping smaller organizations succeed, RCG Consulting sees its expertise as a competitive edge in supporting clients who may lack internal risk management resources.

  • Funding Usage

To date the business has been self-funded. However, in order to continue to develop the business ongoing investment in marketing, leadership coaching, and participation in professional networking organizations and conferences is required. A grant of $50k could cover expenses for the next two years and also allow for minimal income until sustained growth can be demonstrated.

  • Business Plan

In the next five years my goals are as follows: 1) Develop passive income streams. This plan includes development of self-service tools (already in flight) for nonprofits and SMBs to assess their risks; as well as document packages (e.g., policy templates), board governance materials, management reporting to facilitate sound decision making. These products can be purchased for a fixed price. 2) Build repeat business. Following execution of initial risk assessments and strategic prioritization, build cyclical business whereby prior to annual budgeting cycles, RCG works with clients to refresh their risk assessments in light of internal / external events and adjust priorities and goals accordingly to enable strategy. 3) Build a tool. Collaborate with a software development firm to build a risk assessment application including training tutorials. This would involve an initial purchase cost and ongoing subscription fees. 4) Offer retainer based risk and compliance offerings. Providing clients with adhoc / fractional support to navigate thorny issues. In the United States there are approximately 34M small businesses representing 99.99% of US businesses total. In addition, there are approximately 1.9M nonprofits contributing in excess of 1.4T to the US economy. These are big numbers and vital to our economy and society. Both SMBs and nonprofits are continuously challenged by the economic environment, be it globalization and outsourcing, reduction in Federal spend, inflation impacting donor contributions, etc. One key way to protect the US workers and the communities served by nonprofits, is to ensure SMBs and nonprofits are risk aware and know how to manage risk so they can manager their outcomes.

  • Self Identified Competition

To date I have not identified a direct competitor in the SMB space. With regard to the nonprofit space, nonprofitrisk.org is the closest competitor I have identified. I am a member of a national networking organization called Provisors which has 10k members as of 2025, and within that network no direct competitors have been identified. My goal is for other organizations to thrive. I bring battle tested experience from the corporate banking world and want to leverage that experience to help much smaller companies achieve success. While many SMBs and nonprofits are fortunate to have leaders or board members with expertise in risk management, many are not, and managing outcomes is critical to achieving strategy and delivering on mission and vision.
