**Summary of Government Grant Application – Children of Kilimanjaro Orphanage**

Children of Kilimanjaro Orphanage, located in Moshi, Tanzania, is applying for a government grant to complete the final stages of moving into a newly constructed, mortgage-free home. The organization, now five years old, has rapidly become the leading orphanage in its area and currently cares for 32 children, with the capacity to expand to 48 in the new facility.

The funding request totals approximately $14,100 and will be used for critical needs to finalize the transition. These include digging a new well to address inadequate water pressure ($10,000), purchasing bunk beds ($900), installing curtains ($950), providing internet access for sponsor communications, moving expenses including trucks and labor ($1,500), and repainting the current rental property as per lease requirements ($750). The orphanage has exhausted its existing funds and requires this additional support to complete the move.

Their approach emphasizes transparency and integrity, ensuring that all donations directly benefit the children. With only $55,000 in low-interest loans against a $370,000 build, the orphanage has demonstrated strong financial stewardship. Unlike competitors, they guarantee that 100% of funds go toward child care, a commitment that sets them apart in the region.

The team credits their success to a dedicated staff, passionate supporters, and a growing network of volunteers. They aim to continue expanding their impact with the help of corporate sponsors, potentially hiring a grant writer to further develop sustainable funding channels.

This grant would enable them to cross the finish line on a major milestone and continue providing an elevated level of care to more children in need.

  • Funding Usage

We started building our new orphanage September 20th 2024 and are very close to finishing. Our water pressure is not enough for the size of our new home and now a new well needs to be put in for a cost of $10,000, We need curtains $950, Wi-Fi /internet, for sponsors video calls. In our rental agreement we need to paint the inside and outside of our present home before we leave $750. 6 stacks of bunk beds are needed for $900. Trucks and laborers for the move to our new home $1500 We do not have anymore money left and they are close to being done with our new home.

  • Business Plan

At only 5 years old and are already the number 1 orphanage in Moshi, Tanzania and soon to be moving into our newly built home with no mortgage. We plan on doing everything we have been doing but to a larger degree with more volunteers. Going after corporations and large business and hopefully being able to have a grant writer working with us. In a short amount of time with lots of hard work along the way we took a crazy at the time idea and made it so successful that everyone is amazed. I started this after being so accustomed to orphanage directors keeping the lions share of the money for themselves after helping many out. This was started with the idea that all money raised stays with us for the care of the kids. This is why we will be moving into our new place soon with a total cost of $370,000 and only $55,000 in low interest loans. We have 32 children now and our new home will accommodate 48. We have done a great job and want to continue and desperately need some funds to finish

  • Self Identified Competition

Our top 3 competitors do not give 100% of all money brought in for the care of the children. These are very well known facts. We have always looked at the Children of Kilimanjaro Orphanage as one big family made up of our children, faculty, donors and anyone who has ever helped spread the word as family. The best staff an orphanage could ever have is with us, and it shows.
