GMarie Co 87-1231856 | Government Grant Application

GMarie Co | Application Preview

GMarie Co. is a one-person business seeking government funding to support its growth and transition from a home-based operation to a larger commercial workspace. Currently operating out of a 1,000 square foot basement, the demand for products has outgrown the space. With funding, the owner plans to secure a larger work environment, hire employees, expand the product line, and eventually open a brick-and-mortar store within five years.

The business emphasizes community involvement and charitable giving, with long-term goals of creating a self-sustaining company that allows the owner to focus on volunteer work and broader community support. Rather than viewing others in the industry as competition, the owner sees them as part of a supportive community, especially within the self-taught embroidery space.

Built from scratch in 2020 by making masks during the pandemic, the business reflects a strong work ethic and commitment to growth. GMarie Co. stands out through its dedication to collaboration, community events, and local partnerships, and the requested funding would help scale these efforts while boosting the local economy.

  • Funding Usage

I am the sole employee of my own business. With funding, I'd like to expand into a new workspace, as I currently work out of a 1,000 square foot basement and have ran out of room. My customer base and order quantities have grown immensely, and it has become apparent that I can no longer operate efficiently on my own. With a new workspace and employees, I'd also like to expand my product line and eventually open a brick and mortar.

  • Business Plan

I'd love to move my workspace into a larger area; I currently work out of my 1,000 square foot basement that is completely full. Within 5 years my goal is to expand to a storefront. My goal is to hire employees once moving work locations and continue expanding my products. I am not looking to expand just my business; I have goals of expanding my involvement in the community as well. I have visions of, one day, establishing a solid business without my direct involvement so that I can devote my efforts to other activities and volunteer opportunities as well. GMarie does focus a lot on charitable donations each year, however I am confident that I can do much more.

  • Self Identified Competition

I have truly taken the idea of "competitors" and turned it into "community" instead. Self taught embroidery is a difficult journey to take on, and I am grateful for the people I have met along the way! I have personally built my business from the ground up. I began in 2020 by making masks for people when they were not readily available during covid. I worked hard, long days and nights to get to where I am today and am so proud of the business I have created; I can confidently say that I am where I am today because of my hard work and dedication. I have big plans for the future that could benefit the community as a whole. I have already worked with some other small businesses and created several local events that involve charities and other local businesses, and I plan to do a lot more of that in the future.
