Business Plan
I am starting out small. I plan on performing at weddings and other venues for a percentage of what others charge to start out just to get my name out there. As I do this, I will continue to invest in my business by adding lights and other related services. As DJ equipment is durable, there is a very small need to repair/replace equipment already owned. An investment of a $2-300 for additional lights can make a huge difference in services I am able to offer. The overall plan is to move from just being able to offer DJ services to providing live sound for bands and other venues such as fairs and the likes. I am a very passionate and driven individual. I have DJ-ed in the past for weddings and other events so I have some experience already. Also I have worked in the audiovisual field for 20 years where I designed, installed, and integrated A/V systems as well as programmed control systems for classrooms and other areas of a college campus. I also ran sound and video for events on a regular basis while in the field. Besides having experience in the field, I also plan to add a very personal touch to my services. I understand that weddings and the like are a very special time for the client, so I'll do my very best to provide personal service to make their event an individual experience rather than treating them as just another client and providing cookie cutter experiences.

Self Identified Competition
Two of my top competitors are Music Express and Radio Pro DJs. They both offer services provided by DJs on local radio stations. They both have sizable media groups backing them so they can provide top tier audio and lights. My third competitor is a small business DJ such as I am. They offer Karaoke, however I'm not sure about lights as the few times I went to one of their performances, they had none. Nowadays, DJ services isn't really about sound systems and music selection as most equipment is adequate for this task and music is so easy to acquire from sources such as iTunes and Amazon music. The special touch that will make a performance memorable are lights. From up-lighting the backdrop of a bridal party in the brides preferred colors, to specialized dazzling light performances to just a few songs in a night can turn a well executed DJ performance to an extraordinary one. Since programming light shows is very much like programming control systems for audiovisual systems, I excel at creating and performing stunning lighting shows.
