Funding Usage
The Moonbow Market is located between the Daniel Boone National Forest and The Big South Fork. Because of our unique location we are able to bring tourist to our town to enjoy our rich history as a coal mining community. My goal as the owner of The Moonbow Market is to bring something to our community that everyone can benefit from. McCreary County, Kentucky was voted the poorest county in the United States with an annual income of 10,000$. My hope is that with The Moonbow Market I can create a business that people are excited about and inspired by. I want people to see that our community can come back to life with hard work. I want to share our history, hiking trails, rivers, waterfalls and more with the tourist community. If I was to be awarded funding I would use it towards the renovation of a empty store in downtown Whitley City, Kentucky. I would buy more inventory for my store such as tee shirts, hiking patches, walking stick medallions, post cards, coffee mugs, and more! I would buy a cash register, a computer, and a card reader. I have a vision for our town to be made into a beautiful tourism community and it starts with The Moonbow Market. Poverty in our town could end with the right funding to jumpstart our community!

Business Plan
I plan to grow my small business within the next five years by getting a store front. Down town Whitley City, Kentucky has great buildings with potential to be amazing store fronts. However most buildings need renovation. I plan to move The Moonbow Market to one of those store fronts, renovate that building to appeal to tourists and improve our community, get all new unique store inventory, and buy a computer and cash register so I can take all payment types. Within the next five years I hope to be in store and active in my community. Investors should invest in The Moonbow Market because with my small business I could completely change our community. The Moonbow Market will inspire the community and bring profit with tourism. I have complete confidence that with hard work and investors we could make our town a booming tourist community. I had the privilege of working two summers at the Cumberland Falls State Park gift shop. While I was there I met not only people from around the United States, but people from different countries. They all came to see Cumberland Falls, also known as the Niagara of the South and the rare moonbow seen at the falls on a clear night with a full moon. This is a huge tourist location and McCreary County can benefit. While I worked at the Cumberland Falls gift shop, people would often ask what else is in the area. We would send them to Stearns, Kentucky located in McCreary County. This is a great opportunity for The Moonbow Market because tourist would drive past our store front on their way to Stearns!

Self Identified Competition
The Moonbow Market would be one of the few store fronts in the entire McCreary County. If The Moonbow Market was able to restore a building in Whitley City, it would sit next to a locally owned boutique store, flower shop, a locally owned organic restaurant, and would have a 1950’s inspired diner right down the road. A few more minutes drive would take you into Stearns, Kentucky where you will find The Artisan Shop full of locally made crafts, Stearns golf course, and the Stearns Museum. The Moonbow Market wouldn’t have competitors because it’s a one of a kind souvenir shop, but would have stores around it that would make it more appealing for travelers. The Moonbow Market is unique because it is inspired by the 1950’s. As a graphic designer, illustrator, and artist I make all of the designs found in my store. I am inspired by our rich history in coal mining, logging, the Cumberland Falls, and the nature that we are surrounded by. You can find mid century influence in my packaging, inventory and hope to have a mid century inspired store! I am confident that with my stores unique aesthetic it will bring people of all ages to our town to explore the community, our rich history, and shop at The Moonbow Market.
