  • Business Plan

Grant money will be utilized to increase marketing and advertising. Currently, I utilize Facebook and Instagram as prior methods of advertising and seeking clients. I have already begun expanding the types of photography to all times, removing limitations on what I will / will not photograph. For example, I have begun networking with other small business owners in the area and have propositioned them with photographs for their businesses, which would allow their businesses to grow as well. Specifically, I focus on challenging sectors of the population, such as special needs children, whose parents often face difficulties finding photographers who can capture their family's photos. I am a wife of 15 years; mother of two children; and have been a military spouse for the last 14 years. I have traveled the world with my husband and raised my two children. When I found photography, I found my passion. With the amount we move and travel, this is a business I can take with me wherever we go. Since opening Stephanie Renee Photography, I have found a purpose for myself again - other than being a mother and wife. Photography is my passion! Additionally, not only do I thrive in taking photos of all people - men, women, children, special needs, food, businesses - but I want my business to be a comfortable place for those who often find it uncomfortable having their photos taken. My studio is a comforting place. My demeanor and professionalism allow me to foster relationships with my clients; the men, the women, the children...it doesn't matter. Everyone should have pictures of their family; intimate boudoir photos that make a person feel special and sexy; or those photos that are given as holiday gifts or are hung on the wall for everyone to see. My passion allows me to provide this. The grant money I would receive would allow Stephanie Renee Photography to garner more clients and make more people happy.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are an abundance of photographers in the Hampton Roads area. Many of them have been established for some time; most of them longer than me, since I only opened my studio in November 2020. Some of these photographers are talented. Some of them, not so much, yet all seem to garner business. Additionally, everyone today has a smart phone with the latest in photo technology in the palm of their hand and everyone thinks they are a photographer. Location is one of the key factors that makes my photography studio different from others. I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia; Hampton is where I reside with my studio in Yorktown (the Peninsula). There are some photographers on this side of the water, but the majority of the photographers are on the South Side of the Hampton Roads area (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, etc.). My studio is in a great location and has already facilitated many diverse shoots (cake smashes, birthdays, boudior, holiday, etc.). As I mentioned, everyone has a phone and there is excellent photo technology installed. While these phones take excellent photos, it is my creative mind that allows me to multipurpose my studio to facilitate a wide-variety of diverse shoots. I also travel all over the Hampton Roads area, both South Side and Peninsula, and actively seek locations depending on client needs/wants/desire. I study. I learn. I have already obtained my certificate in Photography from Auburn University. I am invested in my craft - my passion. I want people to have amazing photos. Yes, getting paid for these photos would be nice, which is why I opened my doors in the first place and why I am here exhausting all options in trying to keep the doors open; keeping my passion alive.
