Straight Edge Painting & Remodeling LLC | Application Preview
Straight Edge Painting & Remodeling LLC is seeking government grants to enhance their business operations. The funding will be used primarily to purchase a trailer for transporting tools, which will also feature artwork and signage to promote the business. Additional funds will support advertising efforts and the purchase of ladders, sprayers, and other necessary hardware.
The business plan focuses on a multi-faceted approach to advertising, including door-to-door canvassing, social media marketing, radio spots, and print ads. The owner has deep community ties through involvement in foster care, church youth programs, and previous business experience, which will aid in building a customer base.
The owner emphasizes their strong work ethic and passion for transforming spaces as key reasons for funding approval. With 30 years of experience, they aim for excellence rather than mediocrity.
Competition comes from local businesses like Fitzpatrick's Painting, Stom Painters, and JR Painting, each with established reputations. However, the owner believes that their unique passion for painting and construction sets them apart. After being laid off from a desk job due to the pandemic, they decided to follow their true interests, confident in their ability to deliver high-quality work and transform properties effectively.

Business Plan
We plan to canvas our local area with advertising including door to door, social media, radio, and paper ads. We also know a significant number of people in the community, having been active in foster care, teaching church youth, and formerly operating a small business in our community. I am a go-getter. I have a lot of passion in this field. I love to take something rundown and make it lovely again. I am hard-working and highly motivated to be successful. I have shown this is my own work ethic since I began working 30 years ago. I don't want mediocrity. I want to show that I care and do the best work possible.

Self Identified Competition
One of the top 3 competitors is actually a friend of mine. Fitzpatrick's painting. Located here in Albany, my son worked for them last summer. They have a large, successful team, in business about 20 years. But, my 19-year-old son, my partner in this business, knows that we can do better quality work. Stom Painters are also located in Albany and are known for their reputable work. JR Painting rounds out the list of the 3 top competitors in Albany. They have a good reputation for quality work. What makes me different is that painting and construction are my passion. I was in a white-collar, desk job for over 20 years. The job hit a bad place when Covid-19 affected the restaurant industry. Myself and a handful of other employees at this job were laid off in March. I knew at that point that I was done there. My wife actually suggested that I do what I am passionate about. I've always been good at taking something broken and making it whole; taking something that appears rundown and making it new again. It wonk just be my job. It is my passion!
