Business Plan
I plan to bring my knowledge and experience with custom cakes and wedding cakes into the established business which mainly does donuts and cookies currently in order to expand the product line offered. Additionally, I plan to use social media marketing to increase customer base, as well as local billboard advertising and weekly specials. I plan to advertise in local papers and the programs of local sporting events. I plan to create a user friendly, visibly pleasing website that displays pricing, menu options, a gallery of past and present work, as well as an online ordering option. I will offer services that are not currently offered by the current owners, such as design consultations and cake tastings, and cake and cookie decorating classes. I will also add delivery, which is not currently offered. In addition to my 14 years of baking experience, I am a passionate and innovative individual. In the 3 short years of being a cottage business owner, I have expanded my "side business" to the point of making it into a full time career. I have tripled my business and expanded my customer base exponentially. I have garnered hundreds of 5 star reviews from satisfied customers on my social media page. I have a passion for this business and I am a very hard worker. I constantly have new ideas and I am not afraid to try new things. I keep abreast on new trends in the industry so I stay relevant and fresh. I am a single mother so I work very hard to give my children and myself a great life. I want to show my children that hard work and dedication pays off and that if you work hard, anything is possible, even starting a business at forty!

My top 3 competitors in the area are Sunshine Cupcakes, Giant Eagle, and Walmart. Sunshine cupcakes only makes cupcakes, and Giant Eagle and Walmart are retail bakery chains. I am very different from my competitors. Sunshine cupcakes only offers cupcakes. They do not sell pastries or custom cakes and cookies like I do. Giant Eagle and Walmart are retail chains and they also do not offer custom cakes. I am unique in that I make cakes that no one has seen before. I work with my clients to create a completely unique and custom design for their cakes and baked goods. There is no other custom cake bakery around that offers cakes with the level of detail, intricacy and personalization that I offer.
