Funding Usage
With this money, we will purchase, restore, and update a historical building on Main Street, New Salem, ND. We will make this building code-compliant and be one of the few businesses in New Salem to be handicapped accessible, per ADA guidelines. Our goal is to bring tourism to our "silver community", bring awareness to anyone who walks in our doors (ex. local suicide prevention resource lists, cancer awareness, toy/winter clothes drives, etc.), and support other small businesses.

Business Plan
This is our first year in business (opened January 26, 2022), and we have raised enough funds to purchase our brick-and-mortar location. Our new brick-and-mortar location is double the space of our current rented location, and has a basement the same size as the main floor. In our own building, we will be adding more variety to our food (focusing on breakfast and lunch) and coffee menus. We have also booked monthly seminars for the next 12 months, along with catering services for high school prom/weddings (booked in 2024). We will also implement more charity/fundraising events. My wife, Malinda, has an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts and Business Management. She has been named Certified Dietary Manager of North Dakota in 2021 by the Association of Nutrition and Food Service Protection while she was the certified dietary manager of Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND. Malinda is also a certified food protection professional, certified food manager, certified food handling manager, ServSafe qualified, and certified ServSafe manager. I, Nolan, graduated with an Associate's Degree in Firefighter/Paramedicine. I am a paramedic currently with Metro Area Ambulance Service (Bismarck/Mandan, ND) and with Mercer County Ambulance (Hazen, ND). I served in the North Dakota National Guard from 2016-2022 and am currently on IRR status. Social Media - Since opening our doors, we have been given multiple "shout-outs" (tagged in pictures and clips) by North Dakota Legendary (official site of North Dakota), Old 10 Rummage Sale, Dickinson Bureau of Tourism, Coffee Cruise, US103 Radio station, North Dakota SBA, and KFYR News, among others. Income - Total Net Sales for FY2022 is $192, 459.20. Community Events/Benefits so far - Military/First Responder Discounts, loyalty cards, donations to the local school district, donations to medical benefits, gift baskets and donations to local first responder training/events. We participate in local Main Street events such as holiday open houses, Small Business Saturday, and Halloween on Main.
