NOT A BAKERY LLC 026724804 | Government Grant Application

NOT A BAKERY LLC | Application Preview

NOT A BAKERY LLC is applying for government grants to fund the expansion of their salon, currently operating out of a single chair space. The plan involves converting a two-car garage into a fully equipped, two-chair salon. This funding will cover insulation and finishing of the space, as well as new equipment such as salon stations, chairs, and shampoo sinks.

The business is poised for growth through the addition of another stylist and possibly a nail technician, as demand has already surged with minimal advertising. The owner has demonstrated strong dedication by successfully managing the salon while homeschooling four young children and supporting her husband’s new business.

Since launching in June 2022, she has exceeded her original financial goals, establishing a growing clientele and ensuring weekly profitability. With ongoing personal and professional development, she is committed to excellence in service and continuous learning.

The local competitive landscape shows a few salons in the area, none of which are currently accepting new clients. The owner believes her kind and attentive approach offers a unique edge, fostering strong client relationships while maintaining policies that respect her time and work. Overall, she emphasizes her passion, work ethic, and favorable location as key factors predicting continued success and growth.

  • Funding Usage

My salon is currently a single chair space on my property. I need to expand. I am going to be turning my two car garage into a two chair, full service salon. I will be using the funding to accomplish that goal. It needs to become a well insulated, finished space. I will also be using the money to purchase new equipment for the salon (stations, chairs, shampoo sinks, etc)

  • Business Plan

I am planning on hiring on another stylist and, potentially, a nail tech. Through minimal advertising I have already grown my business exponentially and will continue to do so. With the extra availability that new hires can provide, the business will continue to grow. that being said, business does not just appear out of nothing. I am extremely hard working, invest a lot of time into continuing education and will hire individuals who take pride in the results that they produce and are interested in continuing to learn and grow. In June of 2022, I turned a small shed space into a salon. I did that while homeschooling and caring for 4 children, 9 and under and helping my husband, who also started his own business in June of 2022. I handled the marketing for both of our businesses. In short, I had a lot on my shoulders. Even though there was so much going on, I knew I could own and operate a successful and profitable salon. My goal was to make enough money, over time, to pay the mortgage on my house. fast forward to now, January of 2023 and I have already met and surpassed that goal. I have a healthy clientele that is growing every week and I can pay myself out every single week. My professional knowledge grows with every client and I am still learning on my own, all the time. In short, investors should invest in me because I am incredibly passionate about what I do. I am hardworking and goal oriented. I am in a location that naturally benefits the growth of my business. due to all of those things, the salon will continue to grow and succeed.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are only a few salons in the immediate area. None of these salons are accepting new clients at this time. The competition is there, but it is less than it would be in a more populated area. I am a kind and caring individual, which puts my clients at ease. They feel comfortable in my chair, comfortable enough to know that I will listen to what their needs are and take into account their preferences. If I make a mistake I fix it without charging. I know my worth, but my business would be nothing without my clientele. I have policies in place to protect my time and make sure I am compensated for my work.
