Funding Usage
The funds will be used in the following ways: While Estrella Elementary School serves its purpose of educating the next generation of students, its physical environment lacks the proper incentives to make students want to come to school. These funds will be used to update the school's physical environment and implement those updates as a learning opportunity for students as well as student incentives. Specifically, these funds will be used to: buy elevator keycards to improve the schools' accessibility to students with disabilities; it will be used to update the school's garden while incorporating the update into the curriculum; it will be used to buy student incentives to improve attendance among the student body thus increasing instructional time per student and as a result, improving state and federal test scores. These grants will positively impact the lives of the students, especially in this low-income community as they will feel valued and represented in their school.

Estrella Elementary School is expected to have an increase in the student population. Most of these students come from working-class minority groups. The way we view growth, apart from the student population, is through test scores. The goal is to rank consistently high in state and federal test scores. In order for that growth, students need to come to school and for that funding is needed to create an inviting and nurturing place for academic growth. For that we plan to these funds to improve the schools' accessibility to students with disabilities, update the physical environment and infrastructure of the school and buy student incentives to improve attendance among the student body thus increasing instructional time per student and as a result, improving state and federal test scores. The funding will also be used to pay for the teaching staff's overtime when doing after-school interventions and tutoring. Invest in us because we are a cause worthy of your investment. Estrella Elementary School is located in the heart of Los Angeles, where the surrounding community is made up of mostly working-class and low-income families. The school’s demographic consists of 492 students with the vast majority of students being children of color. There are 203 English learners and 98.2% of the school receives free meals. Many of these kids are children of undocumented parents and some of them are undocumented themselves. School is the only constant in some of their lives and they should feel valued in it. Investing in us can create a media buzz that you as an investor probably needs. Investing and donating to us will create tax breaks for you and/or your company because we are a public school.
