Kayla Wilkes RN, CLC 88-3661988 | Government Grant Application

Kayla Wilkes RN, CLC | Application Preview

Kayla Wilkes RN, CLC is seeking government grants to support her professional development and increase her business visibility. She intends to allocate $1,440 for a 95-hour lactation education course and $660 to cover the application fee for the IBCLC exam.

Her business plan focuses on enhancing her marketing efforts, particularly by connecting with local doctor's offices and establishments frequented by mothers, leveraging her new credentials once obtained.

Kayla emphasizes her proven track record of trust and knowledge in breastfeeding issues, which she believes warrants approval for funding. Currently, her main competitor is located 30 miles away in Dothan, drawing mothers to her due to established credentials. Kayla aims to provide local options by obtaining her certification, which would help her stand out in the market.

She asserts her competitive edge lies in her passion and dedication to supporting families, motivating her to pursue further education and certification in lactation consulting. This commitment to helping families succeed without resorting to formula distinguishes her from less driven competitors.

  • Funding Usage

$1440 will be used to pay for the class required (95 hours of lactation education). And $660 to apply to take the IBCLC exam.

  • Business Plan

I plan to market myself more, especially with my new credentials. Going to doctor's offices, and businesses that mothers frequent. I have proven to the people that I work with currently and to past clients that I am knowledgeable and trustworthy when it comes to breastfeeding issues. I just need the credentials to back it up.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top competitor is 30 miles away in the neighboring town of Dothan and moms would rather go to her because of the credentials than come to me, who is local. I would like to at least give them the choice to stay local. The other people that are competitive aren't really looking to take the exam, so getting the education hours and taking the exam, would honestly get rid of them as "competitors." Honestly, I'm different from my competition because I'm more driven. At least in this field. I LOVE helping these families and seeing them succeed without the need to buy formula, so I WANT to go further.
