  • Funding Usage

Requested funds will be used to assist me in the growth of my studio. Currently all of my funds are going towards paying the lease and utilities on the space, which makes the most crucial component of my success, which is marketing, left on the back burner while I attempt to stay above water. With this grant, I will be able to pay 12 months of rent, utilities, and other operational expenses so that I can focus my attention on marketing my studio both directly, by doing in person networking, and indirectly by marketing online and via mail to the surrounding area.

  • Business Plan

This year I plan to grow my membership base to 25 members in my 1000 sq. ft space. In the next 5 years, I plan to increase my membership base by 20 members each year. To compensate for our steady growth, I plan to rent additional spaces which are adjacent to my current space. In totality, I plan to rent 4 additional spaces totaling 4500 sq. ft to house the goal of 100 memberships. I plan to offer individual mentorships and group workshops for beginners, semi-pro, and seasoned professional photographers. I believe that investors should invest in me because I am hard working, relentless, and trustworthy. Over the past two years, I have taken a unique and creative concept that manifested from idea into reality all because I decided to go all in and invest in myself, knowing full well that once I am in, I refuse to fail. I have always succeeded in whatever I have put my hands too, and I have always excelled whenever I couple that success with passion. I am super passionate about photography, about people, and supporting professionals with the knowledge that I have gained over the past 20 years that I've been in sales, marketing and the creative field of photography. I have never applied for any funding in my lifetime, because I am hesitant to think that anyone would ever invest in me. However, I love what I have created, and I am passionate about its success to a place of desperation. I need this idea to succeed because if I fail, someone will just come along and couple my vision with monetary resources and do it better. So, I am humbling myself and reaching out to anyone who has a heart to believe, to help to fund a "nobody with a dream" in the midwest. Because if I bet on me, you can be sure that success is inevitable.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top 3 competitors are: Mill Street Studio, Studio 821, and an upcoming studio/coworking space called Kreat-ive which is scheduled to open in April 2023. Both Mill Street and Studio 821 are simple hourly rental studios. My studio is based on membership, engagement, community and belonging. It is more of a creative co-op than it is hourly studio rental. With that being said, the new space that is opening called Kreat-ive is our top competitor because they are advertising studio and co-working memberships. They have more money invested, more local professionals who already follow them and they have more partners contributing to their business. I have owned, operated and marketed my studio over the past year, and this business just surfaced about 2 months ago. We both market in the same online groups and I have a strong suspicion that they took my idea and decided to create something similar. Prior to this, no one in the entire Cincinnati area offered studio memberships. Don't get me wrong, I knew that once I started marketing my business, someone would naturally use it as a skeleton to offer something similar. Competition is great, if it's on an even playing field. If I had the money to assist me in gaining some ground before they open, my business would have a much better chance at succeeding. I believe that my natural authenticity of self and my genuine love for people, as being my 2 strongest attributes, is what sets me apart from my competitors. I genuinely love meeting new people and networking with other creative professionals. I have worked in sales, marketing, and management for most of my career, which puts me in a great position when dealing with the client services aspect, as well as, capitalizing off of my leadership experience when dealing with conflict management. In addition, I have been a professional photographer for over 11 years. I am a self taught photographer, and I started my business in 2011 when I resided in Louisiana. For the first 6 years, I was able to build a thriving business, until I had to relocate to Ohio to care for my father who passed away in 2019. I resumed my photography business in 2020, then the pandemic hit shortly after. I still pursued my business and was able to establish a fairly solid client base over the first 2 years. Then in 2021, I was able to open my own studio. However, I didn't want just any other photography studio. I wanted to build a community of creatives and like entrepreneurs who can support one another through like experiences and educate one another through the different ones. So my hard work and persistence to never give up are what sets me apart from my competition. I never fold and I work to make what seems impossible, possible.
