  • Funding Usage

We would like to make the lodge more handicap accessible. The lodge is on 45 acres in Aberdeen Ohio. Its used as a getaway, recovery resort for veterans and their families. The activities there are outdoor based, including hunting, fishing, etc. We would like to build a new parking area closer to the lodge, install ramp access into the lodge, and also build amenities to help assist veterans with mobility/amputee issues enjoy all the lodge has to offer.

  • Business Plan

We are relatively small, just starting in September of 2020 after the unfortunate passing of Josh Minton. The lodge was his home, and he purchased it during his 5 year long fight with a rare form of neuro-endocrine cancer he was diagnosed with after a deployment to Afghanistan. He was given mere months to live when he was diagnosed in 2015, but did not waste his time feeling sorry for himself. He became a beacon of hope for disabled veterans, and others suffering of cancer (any type). Because the foundation is non profit, we have to raise funds to pay operating costs through the form of fund raisers, and through the use of Air Bnb. We do not want to use the lodge for anything other than veteran support, and we want every trip to be all inclusive. Right now, if the lodge is available, veterans and their families can stay their free of charge. But not every family has the 4 wheel drive to travel the 4 mile driveway, or the money to pay for food required while there, or the funds to travel from whatever part of the country they are in. We try to provide them with a 50-100 gift card for food when they stay at the lodge to help minimize the cost of food while there. Because all of the board members, which include Josh's father, and myself are still employed, if transportation is needed, and we do not have obligations elsewhere, we can provide that. Now to answer the question, how do we play to grow the non profit. I will be contacting the Department of Veteran Affairs, as well as other veteran services in the state of Ohio to let them know about our mission. I will also be getting in contact with the Ohio National Guard, Ohio Reserve, and other Military organizations to let them know of the services we provide. We feel that with enough of these services involved, we will start getting an influx in veterans wishing to utilize our services. We are just looking to help veterans and their families. It is what Josh would have wanted us to do with the land he loved. We are truly here for the veterans. There is no red tape you have to cut through to stay at the lodge. None of the board members are paid, and alot of the improvements are done at personal cost. Every cent of income goes right back into the lodge, just to make it better for the next veteran to stay. With a grant we could make improvements that would allow veterans with mobility issues to travel to the lodge and maintain their independence while enjoying there stay. We do not have a hired team of help to manage the lodge, if any veteran, or their family member have an issue while enjoying their stay, they have our direct number, and it will be one of us driving to handle the issue.

  • Self Identified Competition

We are not in competition with anyone. We are here to make veterans lives better, even if its just for a weekend, or however long they choose to stay. The only reason we fundraise, or are requesting this grant is for the improvement of the lodge, and what it offers. We handle things as a family at this foundation. We run the events to raise money to improve the lodge. We do the repairs, we deal directly with the veterans who stay, and many can attest to that. With a bigger company, there is miles of red tape, you'll talk to a different representative every time you call. You will talk to one of the board members every time you call to ask about the lodge. We build relationships with everyone who uses our services, and will continue to do so.
