Barb Caney Caney | Government Grant Application

Barb Caney | Application Preview

Barb Caney is applying for government grants to support her business focused on sustainability. She plans to use the funding to cover the costs of hybrid solar panels and a water-saving system, estimated between $3,500 and $5,000. Additionally, the funds could help with installing higher R-value windows and doors.

Her business aims to engage the community in sustainability initiatives by inviting them to explore eco-friendly building practices. She also intends to maintain a no-mow yard to enhance the ecological footprint in her area.

Barb argues that funding should be approved to promote a shift towards more sustainable construction practices, noting that while Energy Star appliances are a positive step, the demand for broader improvements is essential.

There is no mention of competitors, but her competitive edge lies in her collaboration with an Energy auditor to optimize her Net-zero options.

  • Funding Usage

I'm not sure of the exact cost of the hybrid solar panel. I believe the water saver system is $3,500-$5,000? It could also offset costs of higher R-value windows and doors.

  • Business Plan

I plan to open my home to the community building programs looking at sustainability options. I'm also looking to have a no mow yard to improve the ecological footprint in my area. For all of the reasons mentioned previously, we need to move forward in a more sustainable mindset when building new homes. So far, I've seen the biggest push is in Energy star appliances, which is great but we need to do more.

  • Self Identified Competition
