Business Plan
I hope to open a second location with this grant. At that time I will work on growing that location to become as well known and successful as this location. At this time I am not considering other locations but one never knows what opportunities might come along. I am always open to what comes my way. I am extremely hard working and know how to grow a business from the ground up. I have had my own business for a total of 30 years and have evolved with the changing times. It's a really neat story how I came to end up in the Baby Donut Business. I'd love to share it with you! Not sure if this is the place to do that as I'm not sure how much space is available. I have taken ideas that have come to me from my previous business and used them to grow and start another business as the other business became compromised by the internet. I have also added another very successful product to my menu because I saw that another person here in our town was not successful in it. I believe things like this are needed in an Entrepreneur and I believe I have been blessed with that ability. I do not give up!

Self Identified Competition
Right here in our town there are two Starbucks. One around the corner and one a 1/2 a mile away. There is a long time Bakery right here in town. We only do donuts so we only compete in that category. There have been two breakfast/coffee shops come and go around the corner from me in the time that I have been selling donuts and coffee. I believe that fortitude and joy in working are what make me stand apart from my competitors! Fortitude is a must! The first day I sold the baby donuts I did 44.00 in business. At the end of the day I tried to give away donuts to the commuters on their way home from the train. As I handed them the little donuts for free at least 10 people said "no thanks". Finally one person said yes and as I turned around to see my father watching me he said "Debbie, do you know the traits of a good sales person?" I said no. He then went on to say "the person who can take 99 no's before the first yes." I considered that a great compliment from my father who is the strictest man I know. I ran the donut part of my business by myself from start to end of day myself for quite a long time before I could afford to hire someone. I know every detail. I taught myself even how to clean the intricate machine we have for fire suppression and air filtration. I definitely have fortitude. I also have joy! I love my customers! I love what I do and I am never in a bad mood when I come to work. I like to say my great talent is knowing how to work hard. I believe these two attributes are important for the Entrepreneur and that this is exactly what makes me stand apart from my competitors.
