Business Plan
I would like to grow Buzz Me In from an ecommerce business to a brick and mortar business. I am spending the first year as an ecommerce business in order to network, get the name out there and make connections within the Pittsburgh community. I then plan to expand the business into a physical location. I am the owner and primary employee at Buzz Me In. Once the store expands into a physical space then I plan on hiring employees. As the business grows, a store manager position will be developed. The Store Manager’s primary duties will be managing the front of the house which will include training Sex Educators/Sales Associates, scheduling and coordinating the workshops/community education opportunities. The Sex Educator/Sales Associate positions will be part time for the first year with a small benefits package: paid time off. As the business grows, Buzz Me In will offer, health insurance benefits to part time employees in addition to other benefits. The Store Manager position will be full time and will contain a benefits package of paid time off, health insurance, and 401k. As the business grows further, I would like to offer scholarship opportunities for continuing education and professional development stipends for all employees. OUR MISSION Buzz Me In provides a safe place to shop for sex positive, body positive, inclusive, and affirming pleasure products in a shame-free environment. We believe that pleasure is for everyone and that is why we offer quality sex toys, pleasure products, accessories and educational resources so that everyone is granted the opportunity to take ownership over their pleasure. OUR BEGINNING It all started when Mona and a few friends were discussing their first experiences shopping at sex toy stores. The common theme was that they all felt shamed, unsafe, uninformed, and out of place, and those early moments shaped a lot of their future purchases of pleasure products. It became abundantly clear that the type of space they were all missing was sex and body positive, safe, shame-free, affordable, and heavily focused on creating a space of learning. It was at this moment that Mona realized she wasn’t going to wait around for someone else to create that space for her or her friends, and so she would create it herself. OUR FOUNDER Buzz Me In was brought to life by Mona Wiley, a queer human, immigrant, Egyptian, artist, activist, and educator. She had finally had it with the seedy, shameful, and uninformed experiences of other places that were supposed to be dedicated to sexual liberation (but were probably just dedicated to the male gaze). The inspiration for this business comes from her desire for a shame-free, educational, sex and body-positive experience, and to be the resource that she would have wanted real-life access to in her own journey. She was fortunate enough to find other sex positive spaces on the internet, and would like for Buzz Me In to continue a legacy that is a safe space for inclusivity and expressing desire.

Buzz Me In has competitors in both the brick and mortar and ecommerce markets. Adultmart, Sassy Sensations, Adult World Buzz Me In will primarily rely on differentiation to stand out in the market. While there are multiple categories of competitors and substitutes for the products, Buzz Me In has a much larger focus on creating an environment that is body positive, shame free, inclusive, and affirming with a focus on learning and education.
