Owen Equine & Co LLC 92-1960392 | Government Grant Application

Owen Equine & Co LLC | Application Preview

Owen Equine & Co LLC is seeking government funding to boost its agricultural operations. The funds will be used to acquire essential farm equipment, improve alfalfa pasture maintenance and irrigation for hay production, and enhance overall business success. Currently reliant on contracted hay production, obtaining this equipment will reduce costs and provide an additional revenue stream.

The company plans to operate full-time by 2025, featuring a 24/7 on-site horse trainer and caretaker. Once equipped, they will not only produce hay but also offer farm equipment for rent or hire, further increasing income. The approach includes adding RV hookups and equine/dog boarding services for tourists visiting nearby attractions like the Tetons and Yellowstone.

As a Veteran-owned, woman-managed business, Owen Equine & Co is positioned to fill a unique niche in the area, with strong potential for profitability based on low supply and high demand for livestock hay. The business model minimizes startup debt and annual expenses while addressing the lack of competition in equine boarding, riding lessons, and training services in its region. Their comprehensive offerings, including self-produced hay—eliminating the need for market purchases—underscore their competitive advantage, promising sustainability and growth.

  • Funding Usage

Owen Equine would use the funding to purchase farm equipment, seed/maintain our alfalfa pastures, improve our irrigation to our hay fields, and continue to improve our new and small business to be successful. Currently, we have had to contract the hay production and harvesting. If we are provided funding for farm equipment, we would not only be able to cut the expenses of hiring someone else to do it, but it would also create another source of income.

  • Business Plan

Owen Equine & Co LLC will be a full-time operation by 2025. There will be a 24/7 on-site horse trainer and caretaker. Hay production will be in full swing once farming equipment can be afforded. The farming equipment will also be available for rent or hire which will create more income for my business. We want to add a couple of RV hookups with optional equine/dog boarding for tourists passing through to visit the Tetons, Yellowstone, etc. Owen Equine & Co LLC is a Veteran owned company. It is managed and ran by a woman. Livestock hay is producting incredible income and the supply is low. My company would contribute to the farmers and ranchers near and far and their need to feed their livestock. My business startup plan has been carefully calculated to require minimal startup debt to prevent business failure. We have minimal annual expenses, and very little competition in our area in regards to horse boarding, riding lessons, horse training, etc.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are none in our area. No one offers all of the things we plan to offer. First, there are no competitors that offer what we offer. As owners, we have built a business plan based on personal experiences and needs. There are no facilities that can offer equine boarding with a place to ride year round. There are no facilities that allow RV hookups with a place for clients to board their animals (longterm or short). There are no equine boarding facilities that grow their own hay, which will almost double the profit on the hay production side of Owen Equine & Co and eliminate the need to purchase hay at market value. We offer multiple equine and agricultural services, we do not have warehouse rental expenses, and once we secure farm equipment, we will be self-reliant on hay production, therefore eliminating those expenses.
