  • Funding Usage

We plan on using this funding to expand our business and pay for start up costs. Costs like bookkeeping, taxes, fuel, food for events, legal fees, website, licensing, and to buy out the food truck we are operating.

  • Business Plan

We hope to be able to expand our business into a commercial kitchen space, have enough affordable staffing to have multiple events a day, and be able to afford to use more local ingredients than are currently used curranty. We plan to do this by using the revenue we are making to invest in ourselves to get to that point. We have the skills and experience to be successful. Our Chef and half owner has 22 years of culinary experience and has graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a degree in Culinary Arts. Our other half owner is a CPA, and has a masters degree in Business. They both have worked and will continue to work very hard to get this business off the ground. Both of the owners have at some point worked two jobs and one still does. To keep up with start up costs and business expenses. This grant would allow us to collectively be able to afford the cost of business and expand to help the economy of Vermont. In our area caterers are in high demand. There are lots of people who want to have a wedding in Vermont, and have a fine dining experience with the food at their event, but there are not a lot of caterers with availability for the date and time of these weddings. The grant money would enable us to have more employees working with us, and in turn create more catering events, more business, and more jobs in the state of Vermont.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our top three competitors are Bevo, Catering by Dale, and event venues that have in house caterers and do not allow for other event food servicing. Bevo is one of the top wedding and event caterers in the state. They are getting so many service requests that they are referring their clients to us when they are already booked for the day requested. They have also provided us with consulting, and they have let us use their commercial kitchen when we need the extra space. Catering by Dale is another top wedding caterer that has venue space. We are different from our competitors because our competitors have cookie cutter menus, but we take the time to interview each individual client about what they want, what they like, and how we can make the event special for them. We create a custom menu for each event. We are partnered with Morgan Brook Farm, which is a farm that raises local wagyu beef; Right now we use the food truck owned by the farm, another thing that makes us stand out. The food truck provides us with a mobile catering kitchen for remote and off sight events. Morgan Brook Farm expects us to purchase the truck from them in the near term: another reason we are applying for this grant. We strive to focus on local ingredients and farm to table cooking. Additionally the artistry is everything to us in our cooking, in the summer we grow our own edible flowers for the plating in our events.
