Moore Sugar | Application Preview
Moore Sugar is seeking government grants to enhance their cotton candy business by acquiring additional commercial-grade machines and establishing a food-safe kitchen at home. The objective is to create a small space for production and involve other mothers in crafting sweets, fostering a sense of community and shared joy. The business also aims to complete a travel cart for events, expanding fundraising opportunities for local schools in Lane County.
In their business plan, Moore Sugar plans to market fresh cotton candy and custom treats to local shops, particularly around holidays. There is a vision for potential expansion into a physical storefront in the future. The founder believes that sweet treats evoke nostalgia and happiness, emphasizing the importance of creating joyful experiences within the community.
The request for funding highlights the desire to empower other mothers, offering them a way to rediscover their creativity while contributing to the family income. The business has already garnered positive feedback, with many customers expressing delight over the unique treats.
Currently, there is no direct competition for Moore Sugar in the local area, as the company specializes in unique offerings such as cotton candy cakes, chocolate-dipped cones, and colorful light wands. The distinct, playful branding caters to children, setting it apart from a competitor that focuses on a more adult-oriented aesthetic with limited flavors.

Funding Usage
I would like to buy more commercial grade cotton candy machines, and create a space in my home that is a commercial/food grade safe kitchen to prepare my treats in. Very small space as I don’t need much. I would like to bring in a few other moms to help in my dream of sweets. Cotton Candy is a classic treat that all ages relate too. I would like to finish my travel cart for events as well, and expand my fundraising opportunities for our local schools in lane county.

Business Plan
With the help of more machines and people I would like to start marketing to locally owned shops in town. Selling fresh made cotton candy and custom treats around the holidays. Possibly expanding into a brick and mortar someday. Sweet treats make people happy, they feel young again when they experience a flavor from their childhood and I believe we all need more happy moments in our lives and that’s what I hope to bring to our community. As stated above I want to bring other moms into my business. Help them to see their craft and feel a sense of pride. Being an at home mom is tough. You can become lost. Having something you create and make people smile is worth so many stresses. This has been such a great business for my family and I. We have so many happy faces with our cute treats and I feel if you can make someone’s day a little brighter with a sweet treat all the labor and worry of starting a new is worth it!

Self Identified Competition
At this moment I don’t have any competitors in my town that creates the same things I do. Such as cotton candy cakes, cotton candy chocolate sprinkled cones, cupcakes. Cotton candy on led rainbow light wands. All these thing made with fresh from scratch cotton candy in over 20 flavored currently. Working on more now. My company has a more child like vibe, that the kiddos really love. They love to see the cotton Candy be spun at an event and are in awe how it forms. Another competitor is more adult with her pale colors and from what I see only has a few custom flavors.
