Database Comics L.L.C. is seeking a $10,000 government grant to enhance their online comic book business. The funding will be allocated primarily towards upgrading to an eCommerce website, estimated at $490 yearly, which aims to attract 10,000 to 50,000 visitors each month. A portion of the funds, $1,000, will be used to acquire an inventory of 200 comic books priced at $4.99 each. Additionally, the business will allocate $2,000 for legal expenses related to updating their business structure, privacy policy, and compliance with internet laws. They plan to maintain a monthly advertising budget of $200, totaling $4,800 annually, and require $1,700 to hire a graphic designer for video and graphic art creation.
Over the past year and a half, Database Comics has seen a substantial increase in sales by 625 percent through their #ComicsAreForEverybody campaign, reaching a broad audience on social media. In the next five years, they plan to enhance their online presence with a revamped website, targeted advertising, translations of comics into multiple languages, and celebrations of superhero holidays.
The applicant believes their unique vision to revitalize the superhero genre can contribute positively to cultural diversity and language exchange by making comics more accessible. Funding Usage
I plan to use the funding to upgrade to an eCommerce website on $490 yearly to reach 10000-50000 visitors a month. Our plan is to serve an inventory of 200 comics in our online store purchased at $4.99 retail price each. Together, we will need $1000 to purchase the inventory. In addition, we will need $2000 in legal fees to update business structure, privacy policy, Internet law for our affiliate marketing, ecommerce, superhero holidays and copyrights business models. We run ads on a $200 monthly budget. Yearly, that's $4800. We also need $1700 to hire a graphic designer and pay $50 each for 34 videos or graphic art. The total funding need is $10000. Since this is an online business, we do not need to cover brick-and-mortar expenses. In addition, this business is operated from home.

Business Plan
With our #ComicsAreForEverybody campaign, we have increased sales by 625 percent since July 2022 and reached 4.3 million Facebook users. In the next five years, we plan to grow our business with: -a remodeled eCommerce website that sells popular comics, best sellers and new ereleases to social media followers. -advertising that targets family entertainment at theme parks, Hollywood and Cannes cinephiles, holiday and special occasions celebrations. -translations of comics available in English, French, Spanish and Chinese. -celebrations of popular superhero holidays such as Superman Day or Batman Day. I have a unique vision about how to revitalize the superhero genre in comics. I believe the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows the comics medium resonates worldwide. I want to bridge cultures by fostering language exchange by making more comic translations available and cultural diversity. With four years of business experience with Database Comics, I have experience with B2C and B2B. I have a year of experience in sales for Cutco and digital marketing for RelyCircle. In addition, I have a background in science and scribe experience in the medical field. Finally, I value hard work, family and respect.

Self Identified Competition
Currently, I have 1111 organic traffic a month. My top 3 competitors are: stumagz, killermovies and hero-envy.blogspot. Stumagz: A recent website that sets up a digital campus with digital classrooms. Currently, it receives 1353 in organic traffic a month. Though it is a competitor, we share only 11 common keywords and it serves the online school industry. Killermovies: A popular culture and entertainment forum that receives 6963 organic traffic a month. With 30957 keywords, it is a well-established website with movie reviews and forums that has been operational since 2012. Importantly, it serves a popular culture audience and generates revenue from advertising placements. Hero-envy.blogspot: A blog that covers popular battles in comics and a competitor in my niche. The blog has been operational since 2011 and receives 57 organic traffic monthly. Currently, the website serves free content to an audience of DC and Marvel readers. My business is different from my competitors because I focus primarily on affiliate marketing to drive sales. In addition, I have a multi-language website that serves 4000 to 6000 visitors a month. Also, I care about fanbases and celebrate important events in comics, movies and games. Finally, my objective is to grow comics internationally as opposed to simply the U.S. market.
