Chef MJs “Feel Good BBQ” | Application Preview
Chef MJ's "Feel Good BBQ" is seeking government funding to complete the construction of a full-service restaurant and to acquire necessary equipment. The business is strategically located near Summa Hospitals and the University of Akron, drawing significant foot and vehicle traffic.
The business plan emphasizes growth through partnerships, marketing, and community events. Notably, Chef MJ has collaborated with a mental health cafe in Massillon, Ohio, and a nonprofit in Philadelphia to produce a unique mental health-based cookbook, with all proceeds supporting mental health initiatives.
Funding approval is positioned as an investment in a unique culinary vision aimed at changing how Ohio perceives food. "Feel Good BBQ" aims to stand apart from local competitors like Ohio City BBQ, Mission BBQ, and Old Carolina BBQ by focusing on house-made products. This includes baking their own bread, providing gluten-free options, and offering smoked vegan tofu, setting the restaurant apart in a competitive market.

Business Plan
Our business will grow due to location, marketing, events, and connections with other businesses. We have already partnered with other businesses to grow, one being a mental health based cafe in Massillon ohio. We also have a great location, with very heavy driving and foot traffic. Our location is 2 minutes from Summa Hospitals, and 5 minutes from the University of Akron. I’ve also partnered with a Non Profit organization in Philadelphia, where we created the first mental health based cookbook , where 100% of proceeds go to mental health support. Investing in Feel Good BBQ would be a benefit for just about anyone. Our goal, is to truly transform the way Ohio looks at food. We strive to be different than every other BBQ restaurant, and bring a different level of comfort food to the community.
