Day Service for special needs adults C122107 | Government Grant Application

Day Service for special needs adults | Application Preview

The Day Service for special needs adults is seeking government grants to acquire a safe and reliable van for client transportation. The van will facilitate trips to job training sites, grocery stores for meal preparation supplies, and community events to enhance participation.

The organization aims to showcase its contributions to the community by helping clients develop job skills through various businesses. Planned activities include volunteering at local food pantries and selling crafts at farmers' markets.

A primary reason for funding approval is the urgent need to engage adults with special needs who often spend their days at home feeling undervalued and isolated. The lack of social interaction and friendships is a significant concern.

In terms of competition, the organization faces minimal rivalry, with only a few other programs like VARC, APTIV, and INSITE operating in the area. These programs are often limited by staffing and funding, leaving many individuals without adequate programming. The founder has personal experience with this issue, noting their own son has been waiting for programming for two years.

The competitive advantage lies in the organization's commitment to supporting adults with special needs who are currently underserved. Created by parents dedicated to improving the lives of their adult children, this LLC intends to prioritize social involvement over typical workshop settings, aiming to provide a fulfilling social life for participants.

  • Funding Usage

We would like a safe, reliable van to transport clients to work sites for training, to grocery stores for meal preparation supplies, and to various community events where we will actively participate.

  • Business Plan

We hope to show our community that we are active, valuable participants. We want to gain some job skills at a variety of businesses. Chrisanthemum will help out at local food pantries and participate in the local farmer's market selling their crafts. Too many adults with special needs are sitting at home all day. They are not feeling valued. They are missing out in social engagements and friendships.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our problem is we don't have much competition. There is only VARC, APTIV, and INSITE. These are sheltered workshops and community employment programs. They do not have enough staff and funds to provide programming for all adults with disabilities in the area. I know. My son has sat for 2 years waiting! We want to take on the population that is not getting programming. This is an LLC started by parents who want the best for their adult children. We also plan to be more involved in social functions than workshops. We want our adult children to have a social life.
