  • Funding Usage

I am working on creating pre-made collections for couples to rent for their weddings. These collections require a lot of supply so I can make sets. I would also need more vases and storage to house these collections and would like to rent a building to house the supply. I am currently working out of an office in my home and am running out of space. This money would go toward the supply itself (at least $10,000) and the rest would be used to help invest in my business being successful, such like a storefront, housing workshops and teaching others about flowers and creating wreaths over the holidays.

  • Business Plan

I plan on creating pre-made floral collections so I can rent them out to couples for their weddings all over the country, as opposed to just South Dakota. Having the freedom and time to ship out arrangements VS driving and setting up every weekend will allow me to create more and provide more couples with my services. Not only do I want to house pre-made floral collections, I want to have a storefront and eventually hire on other employers to gain other talented florists for my business. I want plenty of creativity in my collections to offer my couples the best experience for their wedding flowers. At this storefront, I would house workshops. These would take place during off-season weddings (winter, early spring) I would hold classes on floral arts and workshops such as wreath workshops, arrangements for homes, etc. This would be open to the public with a fee for every workshop. I began my business as a single mom during COVID, going to school for teaching and suddenly losing my only source of income due to the pandemic. Knowing I needed to find an alternative during these unprecedented times, I started a business. I started small by selling wreaths locally, the demand increased very quickly and I knew I couldn't stop here. I began researching about wedding florists and decided that's what I ultimately would love to do with this business. I sought out couples who needed a florist, started small, and my business continued to grow. It wasn't long before I was fully booked for the year by solely word of mouth. I am the only florist in my area who works with faux floral as an alternative to fresh floral. I believe in sustainability and faux floral is just this. Couples have an option to rent out their floral arrangements and return them to me, rather than disposing of them at the end of the night. Shortly after I started my business, I also graduated from college (being one of few in my family to do so) and obtained my teaching degree, which I have been doing alongside my business. I am extremely dedicated to being successful for a number of reasons. Growing up, my mother could hardly pay the bills and we struggled every month just getting by. I knew when I became a parent my children would never have to experience that and being a single mother, I have no option to quit. I am determined for myself, for them, and because I absolutely love what I do. If you invested in me, you would never have to doubt whether the investment would be worth it. I am here to change the standard of the floral industry, and many others (including being a statistic as a single mom).

  • Self Identified Competition

I would say my top 3 competitors would be local florists, brides, and Something Borrowed Blooms, LLC. Not everybody is up to date on how realistic and practical faux florals have become and what a wonderful alternative they are. Local florists would be a competition because they provide fresh floral. Brides like to save money where they can and sometimes become determined with a DIY attitude and want to go that route. For some, it works just fine, but the majority quickly realize how stressful and expensive it is to still do it on their own. I remind brides that this is my expertise, to take the stress off of them, and show up doing what I know how to do. They don't have to worry about flowers at the end of the night or trying to sell all the flowers they just purchased for DIY. Something Borrowed Blooms is an online company that also provides flower rentals for weddings. When meeting with brides, I begin my educating them on the type of high quality floral I use and how sustainable and practical it is when they go through me as opposed to other florist who work with fresh flowers. I provide the arrangements, tear them down and bring them back home at the end of the night which alleviates the clean up time for them. Not only this, but because I work with faux floral, I transform the bride's bouquet into a beautiful wreath as a keepsake forever. Again, rather than tossing at the end of the night. Though there are other companies that rent floral online, I believe I am set apart by my style and what I provide to my clients. I am still interacting with them, making sure their vision comes to life. They don't just chat with an online platform. Along with this, I offer the keepsake wreath. I also stay up to date and do plenty of research on floral trends and keep up with the industry in this regard. My clients have a variety of options.
