  • Business Plan

I plan on growing my business over the next 5 years through social media, craft fairs, marketing, word of mouth for my small town community, and eventually partnering with the school district to offer vocational classes to students that centers around learning to sew, quilt, learn how to start a business, and of course math (because you need to know math to cut fabric and create designs). There is a big demand for pre-made quilt kits. I started out quilting and embroidering as a hobby and was looking for time saving ways to continue doing what I love by purchasing pre-cut quilt kits that took the guesswork out and allowed me to concentrate on making the quilt. I could not find products that were completely ready to go that included backing and batting. Also, the cost of the basic, incomplete ones were outrageous. In addition, I want to create future sewers and quilters because it is quickly becoming a lost skill. We need to get our youth interested and involved, which is why I eventually want to partner with schools in our remote Wyoming community.

  • Self Identified Competition

Currently, we do have a quilt store on our town but it does not offer the products or services I will be providing. Also, I did not find one website or business that offered the ready -to-go quilt kits. Lastly, partnering with school districts is a new concept, especially in my community and within Whyoming in general. I feel I do not have any competitors because no one is offering these services according to my research. I have spoken to many community members and they are excited for the services I will be offering. I have also spoken with the school district and they are excited about the possibility of offering classes to students. As far as the quilt kits and embroidery services, my rates will be more competitive.
