Funding Usage
I am looking for assistance in being able to afford a new vehicle for my business. For the last six years I have been operating a window cleaning business which has taken off in the last year and has ultimately outgrown the 2007 Acura sedan that I also use as a personal vehicle. Between the ladders, buckets, poles, and towels that I keep in the car, I am running out of room and am also unable to tackle some of the larger jobs that clients request of me. I also drive a lot for work and it is very important to me that I find a vehicle that is not only big enough to haul all of that but also is fuel efficient and eco friendly.

Business Plan
I have been in business for the last 6 years and I am now at the verge of needing more help with the work that is coming in. In the next year I plan to fill a full time position to assist me in the field. As I accrue more business, I hope to create a marketing position in the company to help with the process of securing jobs, which has always been the biggest struggle in operating a small business. Last year I grew 400% and while that might not be a sustainable growth rate for the lifespan of the company, I would like to double my current business book by the third year. Because this is such seasonal industry in Minnesota it is the perfect business to hire college students. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, I took this business full time, but I really have a heart for that age group. I think it would be cool to by year 5 have a few college students on the payroll doing both field work and sales for the company and just let them in on the process of how I started doing what I'm doing. Not only would you be investing in my business but you'd be investing in me. I started this business while I was still in high school and have, in six years, taken it further than I could have thought possible. Throughout college it felt more like a side gig to me, but over time I realized that I could support myself financially this way if I really applied myself. It has only been one year since graduating and it has already experienced unprecedented growth. Last summer I spent every day after work walking neighborhoods and going door to door to spread the word about my company. It wasn't particularly enjoyable work but it led to getting more business than I ever had in the past. I don't necessarily want to get much bigger than I am now but I have a desire to become more efficient so that I can reach more people in the unique way that only small businesses can.

Self Identified Competition
My first competitor is likely Fish. This is a nationally recognized window cleaning company that has franchised into Minnesota. They are much larger than my company and have massive teams to both acquire jobs and complete the services. They are able to reach areas on a bigger scale than I can, although because they are big, they are unable to provide the personal touch that a smaller company like myself is able to. Clarus is another company that is a competitor of mine. They are also located in my city of Bloomington and because they are local they snatch up a lot of the local residential prospects. They are smaller than Fish and so they are able to provide better customer service than them but still not at the same level that a company of my size can. Their size and capacity for more work makes them a big competitor for me. The last bit of competition that I face is actually with the clients themselves. A lot of times people will attempt to clean their windows themselves and it is my job to show them that I can not only do a better job but provide the service without breaking the bank. Many people assume that having me out to clean their windows would be out of the price range but because of my size I am able to work with people to find out a price that will work. This type of flexibility is something that you don't come across often, especially with the larger companies. I have a lot of 15 second conversations while standing in someones doorway so it is important that I speak to them in a way that gets my message across and is concise. As I've mentioned, I operate a very small company and so it is easy for me to provide a personalized service that many people have never had the experience of. When I get new clients, I do my best to figure out as much about them as possible so that I can not only give them a service that is professional and timely, but also unique to them. One of my favorite things about this line of work is being able to have conversations with people that I wouldn't normally get to chat with. In the few hours that I am in their house I learn a lot about them and often times leave with a pretty good picture of who they are and what they do. Many of these professional relationships eventually look more like friendships because I spend so much time with them and there is a level of trust that is formed that might surprise others in the service industry. For instance, I have clients that will message me just to check in on how I am doing and vice versa. Many of my clients also give me house keys or garage codes to provide services when they aren't home, or even out of state. All of these details are so important to what I do. My clients are loyal to me, not just to the services that I provide.
