DAP Books Twin Falls LLC | Application Preview
DAP Books Twin Falls LLC is applying for government grants to cover rent and finalize the setup of their bookstore. As a new business, they're starting to attract more customers and generate income but need additional time to achieve profitability.
Their business plan focuses on community outreach, aiming to create a welcoming space for people to gather and discover new books. They plan to offer various classes, including those for homeschooling, tutoring, book repair, writing, and art. The bookstore aims to be a community asset through fundraising initiatives and projects. Additionally, they want to implement a mobile unit to provide access to reading materials for those who might not have it otherwise.
The justification for funding centers on the fact that DAP Books is one of the few independent bookstores in the area. They intend to provide a friendly environment for residents, especially families and children, which is highly needed in the community. The owner is passionate about making a positive impact on people's lives through this bookstore, seeing it as more than just a business venture.
In terms of competition, they mention larger chain stores like Barnes and Noble and Paperback Bookworm. However, DAP Books distinguishes itself by creating a space where customers can relax and engage with the community, rather than just making quick purchases. The focus is on building lasting relationships and providing a supportive atmosphere, contrasting with competitors that primarily prioritize fast sales without community engagement.

Business Plan
Community outreach. I want to have a place where people can come and hang out and meet new people while they get to find their new book. I plan to implement classes of all kinds for homeschooling, tutoring, book repair, writing, art, etc. While this is a bookstore, it is so much more than that. I plan to be an asset to the community with fundraising and various projects and drives to help support the community. I would like to implement a mobile unit to the bookstore to provide access to people that otherwise may not be able to have access to reading materials and resources. I am one of the only independent bookstores in my area. I have the ability to provide a place in the community for people to go, not only to find books, but to find friendship and have a place to hangout. I want to have a place for kids as well. Our community is in desperate need of family friendly places such as this. I have wanted a bookstore my entire life and have spent countless hours coming up with ideas and ways to be a support to the community. For me, it’s not just about the business. It’s about the people I have the ability to reach and impact.

Self Identified Competition
Barnes and Noble Paperback Bookworm I have a store that is set up to be a place where people are allowed to hang out and be themselves. I focus on the entire experience of the customer, whether they feel welcome, comfortable, and happy; I don’t ever intend to have someone come in, purchase, and get out. This is a friendly atmosphere and I want to build relationships with people in the community. My competitors are set up more for in and out sales with little to no community outreach and support.
