This funding would be used to greatly impact the overall development and performance of the business. It would be used to cover the following: payroll, the bank loan that we took out to start ($175,000), the credit card we used to help with start up expenses ($60,000), renovations (new flooring, better plumbing, proper insulation, bar equipment, state approved hood for frying foods, better sound system, parking for customers, security system, toilets, sinks, and a better kitchen set up.

Business Plan
The Avenue On Main was created to be a start up business. During its creation it was stated that we want to provide a fun, interactive and SAFE space for people of varying ages and backgrounds to be able to come and let off steam. With in the next five years we plan to have at least one other business open in association with The Avenue On Main. It is our goal to be able to not only provide something for the nightlife but for the community as a whole. We want to be able to provide mixology lessons and host events both public and private. The Avenue On Main May be a bar but we have every intention of proving that businesses can thrive in our city. To show people that we as citizens of this city are in control of the narrative that surrounds us. The amount that was requested is admittedly no small figure however it is absolutely necessary. My family and I opened this business as first timers and we were definitely naïve to all the different cost and expenses that it entailed. Nonetheless, we managed to survive a whole year on our own without experience with hard work and dedication. Pine Bluff is a beautiful city that has so much potential and so does The Avenue On Main. Honestly, if I can speak candidly, I feel that we are a great representation of the city. Many people may look at us and not see any reason to invest . Many people may not be able to see past our surface and focus only on the negative things. Just like the city though ;if people would just take a chance and invest into us then all that potential and all the beauty that has been blocked out by the negativity could shine through. My siblings and I are Pine Bluff natives and we know exactly what the people of this city are looking for because they are a part of us as much as we are them. We are tired of seeing people and businesses leave our home just to be entertained or conduct business 45 minutes up the road. This city has been written off as a death sentence for small and big business owners a like. We want to be the start of changing that storyline. The Avenue may be just a bar to some but to us it’s a gateway to other businesses. All we need is the money. Once we have that we can begin to bring Pine Bluff out of the shadows of exile and back into the light of its former glory and better.

Self Identified Competition
Saracen Casino is the biggest competitor that we have. With it being a casino they have access to funds that we simply do not. Which then means that they are able to constantly elevate and evolve into something that people want to come in to. Our next competitor would be a bar by the name of RJ’s which happens to be right across the street from us. They have a sponsorship with Budweiser that allows them to have a continuous flow of business. The Avenue On Main has vision not only for itself but for the city that it calls home. As stated earlier our business is meant to usher in other businesses, whether it be from the outside or from other citizens of Pine Bluff. My family has already talked about plans for other business ventures that would happen here in this city. When I was a little boy we would hop in the car and drive around the city looking at all the abandoned buildings saying it could be so many new jobs for people to work and places for people to unwind. Investors should start with us because we know what the city needs and we know what the city wants. We are young, intelligent, and tenacious enough to get the job done. I feel it’s worth mentioning again that we survived a year of business with no prior experience, no real funds, and the dreams we had as kids. Imagine what we could do for our business and our city if we had the finances to support us. The Avenue is a great investment because it’s an underdog. Underdogs seem like a lost cause but the minute they are nurtured and given support they always bring that spark that ignites change. The Avenue On Main is the underdog for the city of Pine Bluff. On our own no we can’t change an entire city but we CAN be the spark that gets the fire going.
