Hamony Communities 38-3630168 | Government Grant Application

Hamony Communities | Application Preview

Harmony Communities is seeking government grants to address several critical needs. The organization’s aged homes require repairs, including new roofs and bathrooms, amounting to approximately $100,000. Additionally, they need to replace outdated vehicles, which will cost around $120,000. To expand their mission of providing housing for individuals with unique abilities, Harmony Communities plans to construct new homes at a projected cost of $1.5 million each, aiming to build at least one over the next five years, contingent on funding.

The reason for funding approval stems from their commitment to offering residents the chance to live independently, engage with the community, and access employment and social opportunities. Harmony Communities emphasizes the positive impacts these individuals have on local neighborhoods and the mutual benefits of interaction.

There is currently no competition for this housing initiative, as the demand far exceeds available options in Michigan and nationwide. Harmony Communities prides itself on a successful housing model that integrates residents into local communities, gaining support and fostering collaboration.

Overall, the organization highlights its role as a community asset, promoting active participation in work and volunteerism, which contributes to a broader societal shift in perspectives about individuals with unique abilities.

Our homes are aging and in need of repair -- new roofs for two of our homes, new bathrooms for four of our homes ($100,000). Our vehicles are aging and need of replacement ($120,000). In order to grow our organization and offer more housing opportunities for people with unique abilities, we would need to building from the ground, up, at a cost of $1,500,000. The expenses continue as items age -- appliances/Furnace/Hot water heaters -- all have short lifespans when they are serving six individuals in each home.

  • Business Plan

We would like to offer more housing opportunities for people with unique abilities. In order to do that we would need to build more homes. At a cost of $1.5 million dollars per home, we would like to, at least, build one more home in the next five years. We could build more with more funding support. We offer housing to people who deserve the opportunity to live outside their family home - to live, work, worship and enjoy community with neighbors, friends and colleagues. We provide housing to individuals who need support throughout their day to live their lives to the fullest. Our residents desire to be engaged in the community through employment and memberships with Churches and other organizations. If you have ever worked side by side with a person with a unique ability, you know the benefits you have received!! Your engagement makes you a better person for having the experience!!

  • Self Identified Competition

There is no competition -- as the need exceeds the organizations that can create and provide the housing opportunities. It is an unmet need in the State of Michigan and acoss the country!!! We all need to work collaboratively and offer many different models to even scrape the tip of the iceberg. Harmony Communities has a very successful model for developing housing. Our homes are nestled into local neighborhoods and the neighbors have embraced the opportunity to be living side by side with us. We are an asset in our community. We are engaged in work, worship and community service. We volunteer in the community as well as provide consistent attendance to our employers that believe we are an asset to their business. We are shifting paradigmns where we live and serve!!
