Studio E Fitness LLC 9137059149 | Government Grant Application

Studio E Fitness LLC | Application Preview

Studio E Fitness LLC is applying for government grants to address a debt of $30,000 incurred from startup costs and ongoing investments in new merchandise. The grant would also help fund $20,000 for expanding the current space with additional equipment and flooring, and $15,000 to provide Pilates Teacher Training for two women from minority backgrounds, ultimately creating job opportunities for them.

The business plan aims to transform the existing Pilates studio into a comprehensive Women-owned Fitness Center in downtown Birmingham. The owner envisions a three-story facility that includes a healthy cafe serving juices and protein options. With plans to attract investors by clearing existing debt, the owner seeks to purchase a building that would accommodate this vision and believes this development could enhance Birmingham's appeal beyond its current focus on bars and restaurants.

Injustifying the funding, the owner emphasizes the potential for growth similar to successful fitness centers in other major cities, such as Equinox. A roof pool is a future goal, contributing to the center's allure. The owner believes that with this grant, they can align their five-year business plan with the vision for 2024 and position the company for success in a rapidly developing downtown.

When discussing competition, the owner identifies MPower Pilates and Aero Joe, noting that MPower is targeted toward affluent clients and that Aero Joe has been dismissive of their entrepreneurial ambitions. The owner’s competitive edge lies in their resilience, strong work ethic, and determination to succeed despite personal challenges. They articulate a genuine passion for their work and a deep commitment to the community, seeking financial support to turn their aspirations into reality. With this grant, they aim to ignite further business growth in Birmingham, reflecting their investment in both the city and their vision for a thriving fitness center.

  • Funding Usage

Studio E Fitness has a debt of $30,000.00 from opening and continuing to add things such as new merchandise; this money will pay that back. With $20,000.00, I want to grow our current space with more equipment and new floors. With $15,000, I would like to offer two women of minorities to go through the Pilates Teacher Training Program so that I can show them jobs at the end of their program.

  • Business Plan

I want to build a Women-owned Fitness Center in downtown Birmingham; with the resources of this grant, I can get my current business on track to grow from a Pilates studio into a complete Fitness Center. I believe in downtown Birmingham and want there to be more to downtown than Bars and restaurants. I want to use clearing my dept to get investors to help me buy a building to transform into a Fitness Center that is three stories, the bottom floor offering a healthy cafe with Juices and protein options. I already have a Hispanic business partner and would love to find more women to grow this company. It would offer all kinds of Jobs for not only fitness instructors of all kinds but also training programs for education. Investors should be investing in me and my vision because it has already worked in other markets. This would be similar to Equinox Gym in New York, London, Boston...etc. Given enough money, I can add a pool to the roof of the building. I would buy one that is Historical. This is my five-year plan, and Birmingham, with all its growth in apartments downtown, needs something extra to keep people coming downtown. I believe I am only a year away from this growth, especially if I can get my first round of this company where it's in the Black and all the debt is paid. This grant could put me in the position to put together the percent business proposal to take this five year plan and put it in the front of my vision for 2024.

  • Self Identified Competition

My competitors are MPower Pilates and Aero Joe. MPower is a studio opened by already wealthy women who are friendly but have not had to struggle and continue to cater to the women of Mountain Brook. Aero Joe is a studio I have been an Independent contractor for, and they belittled me about wanting my business. I have the same expertise as the very nasty owner. What makes me different is my work ethic and dream. I am a creative dreamer at heart. What dreamers need the most is financial support. I grew up with a single mom in Philadelphia. I have gone through loss and tragedy. It has made me a stronger person for it. I have not been handed anything; I have worked long and hard to get where I am, and the people around me see my passion for what I do and respect me for it. Give me a chance, and I will exceed the expectations and go beyond what you thought I could do. This grant request is small compared to what I need for my five-year plan, but it would set me in motion. I have a fire in me, and I want this city to be thriving and investing in someone who has come from nothing and already bought a house in South Side at 27 and started a business downtown at 31. I would love to buy a building and keep this growth in this city I have invested my time, money, and heart into this city and want to keep that going.
