Jewell's Bookish Bites | Application Preview
Jewell's Bookish Bites is seeking government grants to fund the purchase of decor, books, bookshelves, and register hardware, as well as cover rent for their bookstore. The business aims to establish its location near a college campus to attract students, increase media outreach, and hire staff to enhance operations.
The founders, a group of local women, aim to support college students by expanding their access to textbooks and essential reading materials, which can be difficult to find and costly elsewhere.
In terms of competition, Jewell's Bookish Bites faces challenges from Cicada, a small bookshop with a café, Starbucks, a popular study location for students, and BAM in Barboursville, another nearby bookstore. Their competitive edge lies in focusing on the college demographic, offering affordable textbooks, school-required readings, and a bakery component that is unique in their town. This combination aims to create a welcoming space that caters specifically to students' needs.

Business Plan
We plan to open a place near college campus to reel in our target audience. We plan to expand our media outreach and hiring employees to help run the shop. We are small town local women wanting to expand outreach to the college students of our town. We must expand their knowledge to better them in their studies. We plan on selling text books and school required reading books alongside our typical bookstore genres.

Self Identified Competition
Our top competition is Cicada in west end Huntington. They are a small bookshop with a café. Another competitor would be Starbucks as many college students rely on those places as their go to study space. Finally, I would say BAM in Barboursville could be a potential competitor as another bookstore by the mall. We are planning on reaching to the college students as our main audience. They expect textbooks, as they are expensive and hard to find, and we will specialize in school reading. We also plan to have a bakery as half our store which isn't common for our college town. We strive to merge two of the most needed and most popular ideas into one.
